This is another overlooked gem in The Beatles cannon. They were so far ahead of everyone else in the 1960s with their songwriting abilities.
@jacquescousteau2173 жыл бұрын
Far ahead of their time in the sixties is like saying Bach was ahead of his time in the 1700’s or Mozart of Beethoven in the 1800’s . Great music may have been written at any time ,and is not defined to just the period they composed in . It’s timeless …

I love how Paul describes it as pulling you forward since it such a dynamically structured meter. It's in trochaic octameter and each rhyming word of the couplets are accented by being left on unresolved feet at the end of the line. This gives the song its momentum. I imagine this scene as a young Paul who is so excited that he can't even stop for breath to tell his friends about someone he likes.This song is aggressive and brave and just really captures what a racing heartbeat feels like.

Even as a kid and not knowing anything about music. I was blown away by "I've just seen a face" and I immediately know THIS is "something else" and I want to be a musician. And I STILL marvel at the complexity of the song. I never know it was a fast production because it is such an intricate piece of music just the intro and the pacing of the vocals were so complex it is hard to imagine that it was recorded in the same session as YESTERDAY. BTW You may be wrong as to the "Brushes" part . Ringo is clearly keeping a country tempo with a cross stick on the rim. The same as he did in "Tell me what you see"

Help is such a great beautiful album . Each album from the beatles is a classic . ( except Please Please Please me , which is average to me . But you can hear the potential ) help sounds to me very refreshing , also more eyes on songwriting . With the beatles was rock n roll , soul , blues ,americana . With other words ..... help is the crown of the live beatles . Please dont count rubber soul with live gigs . They played maybe 2 songs of rubber soul if i m correct . Everything is in ballance on help .... ........ then they went to there psychedelic era . Which era do you like ? Pr 66 or post 66 . Yes you may give youre opinnion on paul is dead or not dead . Too bad they never did this live. Maybe it was too hard a bit of stage management to go all acoustic for one song. The track seems like it was sped up a little. Maybe recorded in Ab and moved up to A. He sings it live these days in G.

It sounds like an Irish folk song. The Beatles were mostly Irish . Lennon means live in Gaelic
@garymorrison41393 жыл бұрын
This review vainly ignores the performance of George Harrison who not only gave this song its texture and harmonics but forever popularized the 12-string guitar in the process. In retrospect many critics confirm the belief that great as this band was, its Harrison playing guitar at another level that accounts for much of the magic.
