A Richard Long fan since the 1950s. I remember that first heart attack in 1961 when he was only 33. I also remember he grew into such a good actor that you could tell the characters he played were different from each other, not just RL reading different lines. He had the charming con man down pat, as well as the noble western lawyer and funny math professor. He really made Jarrod come alive.

My older brother and me stayed with Dad and we spent our weekends watching western shows. Late nights (Friday and Saturday) we pulled the hideaway couch bed out and we would sit either side of dad in front of our 19" b/w television and watch the weekend western block ... Bonanza Big Valley Gun Smoke Have Gun Will Travel High Chapperelle The Virginian and Wagon Train. Oh the memories.

I loved The Big Valley & especially Ms. Barbara Stanwyck, whom I thought was one of the most dynamic actresses of the 20th century. She was even more versatile than Bette Davis, whom I liked also. Both he and Peter Breck were terrific actors and a shootout between them would have been fun. Yes I remember all the actors and actress in Big Valley it is a western I have watched and loved as a young girl 👧🏾 enjoyed it with my dad now, I’m 64 yrs old and I still watch the reruns on INSP network. I just want to say a true classic is never forgotten it will always live in our heart ❤️

Still love Big Valley and am glad I can still catch it on cable TV. These old shows always managed to get big names on their shows. That doesn’t seem to happen much anymore! Is it because we don’t seem to have the ‘big names’ like we did so many years ago?? They don’t make actors like they used to!!

Wow BIG shocker didnt realize Linda Evans was on Dynasty...That was my 2nd favorite evening soap couldnt miss it for anything...Now that was a big surprise to me...Crystal WOW!!!

The Big valley was a must in My grandparents household on Saturdays and Sundays. You couldn't start either of those days without seeing the Big valley. Barbara stanwyck was an awesome matriarch. She had one hell of a backbone. Otter Barkley was feisty as ever. I love those characters to death I wish they would do some sort of a remake. I was so happy to see Linda Evans on dynasty and then to see Barbara Sandwich even though a short lived on the Colby's of California. Love Lee Majors character also. You know, I think the Big valley was the first Western at the time to show a rich family that had a past. Not everyone had a pass but the father had an another family I don't remember the whole storyline. But I believe that was revolutionary at the time. Especially for Western. I just love the memory of the Big valley. Cuddling up with my grandfather and just watching the big valley and here comes the brides and others just brings warm memories back.

We named our son Jared. Although the character Richard Long played was spelled Jarrod, it was still in his honor. We have a cousin named Audra as well.

Loved this show and have recently re-watched all the episodes. Barbara Stanwyck and Lee Majors were my favorites. I've followed both of them in their careers and could watch them all day long. Ms. Stanwyck made the character of Victoria Barkley who was tough as any man and as loving as any woman could be. Love Lee Majors, he's always played wholesome characters and was a big influence when I was growing up. I think my love for suede cowboy boots came from my adoration for Heath Barkley. This show was well produced and directed. The writers kept the characters alive and vivacious. Until I was in my teens, I had a hard time differentiating between the show's characters and the actors playing them. Glad that Lee is still with us. RIP Miss Stanwyck; you were always a classy lady!
