A Richard Long fan since the 1950s. I remember that first heart attack in 1961 when he was only 33. I also remember he grew into such a good actor that you could tell the characters he played were different from each other, not just RL reading different lines. He had the charming con man down pat, as well as the noble western lawyer and funny math professor. He really made Jarrod come alive.

When I met him in the cocktail lounge on that ferry crossing, he was very friendly and outgoing, though somewhat patronizing, but I guess that's understandable. After all, he was a big TV star. Besides, who the hell am I to complain; he paid for all the booze.

Yes yes one of my favorite westerns. Stanwyck was a tough looking lady. Alot of grit. One special lady.

I loved The Big Valley & especially Ms. Barbara Stanwyck, whom I thought was one of the most dynamic actresses of the 20th century. She was even more versatile than Bette Davis, whom I liked also. Ms. Stanwyck made the Big Valley an interesting show because she was no pitiful prima dona. She had no problem defending herself.

I was 12 when it first aired. There were so many great westerns on TV back then, & I think I watched them all! High Chaperelle was another favorite!

As kids, me and my siblings ( 13 of us ) all watched Big Valley, along with all the rest of the westerns that were on in those days. When I go back home to see Mama, she's still watching them.

Such a great western tv show that doesn’t get nearly the credit it deserves. What an amazing cast of actors as well as guest stars. It should have been on tv much longer than it was
@lindalanning93763 жыл бұрын
Interesting. But I remember reading that Michael Landon's Joe Cartwright was the fastest gun on tv at that time. Both he and Peter Breck were terrific actors and a shootout between them would have been fun. The old westerns bring back good memories of younger days when right and wrong made sense and family were honoured and loved. They bring solace in these uncertain times. Thankyou.

I heard that many of the western actors would have been able to outshoot the real life olden day cowboys.
