The CIA was a continuation of the OSS. FDR's policies required a new intelligence organization and did so under the guise of national security. Madison Grant's Passing of the Great Race, the original book that inspired Adolf Hiterl's Mein Kampf, was one of America's most influential texts that led to the start of WW2 and modern day anti-semitism. Anyone arguing for the CIA does not realize it is just another White Supremecist organization that intends to eradicate any non-whites thru a eugenics program. The arguement against Trump from the CIA is a farse, a false flag.

For a more in-depth exploration of the NSA, read "The Puzzle Palace" and "Body of Secrets" by James Bamford. The relationships between other English-speaking nations is rather interesting. Also somewhat surprised that the contributions of Polish cryptographers weren't mentioned in the beginning.

Michael Hayden doesn't get enough credit for his attempts at transparency for opening the doors of the CIA for Body of Secrets. He wanted to try to defuse some of the tensions in the post Patriot Act era and decided to try to be as transparent as possible.

A late answer, but most of those agencies deal with analysis and dissemination of intelligence relating to their section. Only 5 agencies really do the actually spying part: CIA, NSA, NRO (National Reconnaissance Office, these guys control the spy satellites), DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency, basically military intelligence), and NGA (National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency; their purpose is quite confusing, but apparently they deal with stuff like making maps for the military, tracking movement of enemy forces, intelligence relating to things like GPS, etc.)

The KGB would be the NSA, CIA, and FBI put together. You see the Soviets believe in collectivism and monopolization while US believed in specialization on competition.

This is extremely over simplistic. You have to realize the three agencies you mentioned are all arms of the same government, just with different names. I think your comment would better be put as "The NSA, CIA, and FBI are if you split the KGB into neoliberal power structures."

Interesting episode. For me, the NSA was the family business. My grandfather and his brother both retired from the NSA. Their brother and sister both spent time working for the Agency. My dad and step mother similarly spent a few years there. My grandfather and great uncle came to Washington from Mississippi in 1940, enticed by their cousin who was working with some IBM predecessors to the computer called "tabulators" and "sorters." Their cousin taught them how to use the machines and before long, they were both working for the government running teams of people operating these machines. When war broke out they both joined the military with my great uncle staying in DC working for Signals Intelligence. One particular challenge (which came out at his funeral) was working to break the German code. He requested permission from IBM to re-wire their tabulator machine so that he could use it in code breaking activities. IBM gave permission as long as he would wire it back at the end of the lease. After the war, he stayed with the group while my grandfather pursued, unsuccessfully, other career options. But in 1951, when NSA was created, he asked my grandfather to come back to DC and join NSA. Never fear NSA, none of us in the family ever knew what they did. Not even remotely. Famously, when my grandmother enquired what my grandfather did all day at work, he replied, "I pick up paperclips." And, that was that. At least until when they were stationed in Europe and my grandmother found a snub-nosed .38 pistol in my grandfather's suitcase before a business trip. His response, "Don't worry, I never need to use it."

It's all gone rouge now. Allowing criminals to operate it knows full well of and acting like the people it chooses to target are the only problems. Totally corrupt violating the Constitution day and night. Snowden pretty much ruined all the mirage. They are traitors now. They know everything The Biden Crime Syndicate is about. They have the 30,000 emails and we have all been played. It's just another weaponized agency operating in the dark and needs to be revamped, audited, whatever. I'd say get rid of all them but unfortunately if they would operate in a more lawful manner we would have a more peaceful society. They know every looter they see every phone the know every drug dealer and criminal and they let it all operate on a daily basis. They know all the perverts they know all the pedophiles and they let them all target the kids a million of them 7 days a week online. Useless fucking American Government. Killed my G Dad an Officer after they used him for 30 years. No loose ends right. Uncle Sam can kiss my ass!!!

I think that's where we got the idea of 'third world countries ' from . They weren't aligned to the other two great opposing forces but we're in a third neutral group . That means that Sweden and Switzerland were third world countries.

I love the artwork for the title screen. Russians get nesting dolls, vodka, AKs, and a bowl of pierogies. Extra anchovies (err, no wait I think many Russians actually like canned, salted fish and it's only a widely considered joke topping in the US... so we can't have anything they might actually like!).... Let's go with extra, EXTRA pineapple! Have them delivered to Vladimir Vladimirovi.... No, no wait! That's TOO obvious. Send them to BOB Vladimirovich. (Yes, that should work... heh heh...)
