When hoovie inquires about the markup, they say "oh that's not for you". IE they waived the markup because of Hoovie's celebrity status. Any Joe off the street who tried to buy that car would have paid $200k.

@@derekgardin1512 eh, there are too many reasons not to have a manual.. its faster automatic with the DCT. Its 8 gears and rowing 8 gears is not what most people want. Then the biggest issue, nobody buys manuals. Everyone says they want it and then the people buying the cars leave the manuals on the lot. Just for measure not having a manual gearbox option they can save on development costs and ultimately the sticker price.

Same reason they used these ridiculous push rod engines, heavy frames, etc... As long as they can stick big tyres and lots of screens on their cars, they never improve nor refine them. Many congrats. I just got back from the Factory Tour at Bowling Green this past Friday. Right now they are building about 95-97 cars per shift, and 1 in every 12 cars on the line is a Z06. I got to hear a beautiful white Z06 come to life, and get driven off the line for the first time. This was my 3rd time doing the factory tour, first time for my son. First time I did it was back in 1999 with the C5, then in 2016 for the C7, now for the C8. What a car the current Z06 is. For now, I'll stick to, and enjoy my 2004 CE Z06.

so basically what we learned from CT9 was; buy a C8 Z06 with a "lifetime warranty" on a first gen, new flat plane engine platform.. but it comes with a free tank of gas. (With a new engine that will NOT get the correct milage until after a few tanks)

I'd rather fool with the top for the 10 times a year or so I'd take it off rather than risk it breaking. The Cadillac XLRs were notoriously bad about that. Now it can go to someone who will actually drive it and enjoy it. The Shelby is the last real American muscle car, that will still go around a corner. I believe his dad had a dealership and his grandma gifted him an expensive mercedes as his first car. His family seems to buy a lot of cars, i dont think he started from scratch I think he grew up around a lot of automotive transactions and hes made a youtube channel out of it. If your first car wasnt $20k-$25k mercedes at 16 i dont think the "from scratch" process is quite the same

I think the only bummer for me is that so often these dealer allocations are spec'd out by the sales manager who (understandably) is looking to maximize profit. Nicest color combo I have seen Hoovie. Congratulations! Convertible spec on that car aka no carbon wheels is superb. Pretty upsetting Chevy has permitted such outrageous mark ups aka allowing their dealers to do it...and so glad because of your standing you were able to get one at a fairer value which happens to be the nicest one I have seen.

Manufacturers actually have no control over the actual price that dealers set. They can only give a suggested retail price or MSRP and the dealer can do whatever they want with that information. Most of the time the dealers just stick with that price because they know the number has a ton of calculations, cost to build, transport, warranty, market demand, etc, that go into it, but when it comes to a crazy in demand car they can jack the price to the moon and still sell it. Basically Chevy doesn't want to permit this, but it doesn't have much of a choice. The only thing manufacturers can do is to allocate less cars in the future to incentivize the dealer to stop mark ups, but it rarely works. Terrible situation, and it's a big reason why Ford is trying to buy out a ton of its dealers.

@@andrewhaan1156 Thanks Andrew. Well explained. Honda dealers are doing the exact same thing as you likely have heard with the Type R. C8 prices, independent of the Z06 are already starting to plummet. There are now 2LT C8's used with low miles sitting at dealers for $80K and with increased supply and economy going to into a recession you will see MSRP more the norm than the exception.

Congratulations brother I'm in my 23 c8 hardtop convertible driving from Orlando to fort Myers to do some more hurricane claims. I am an insurance adjuster and I have a telescopic ladder in the trunk and roofing boots and then 4 months I've put 7500 miles on the Corvette. Congrats congrats welcome to the family I don't have your engine but I use this car as my daily and it's the greatest ever with the smoothest ride and the most fun and brings a smile to my face and everyone else who sees it.

I think I finally know why I love the idea of the C8 Z06 so much. It might just be the perfect balance between the original NSX and the LFA. It has the all of the tech you could want, but with plenty of power and a glorious noise. With the warranty they are giving it it might even end up somewhat reliable. Sure the noise isn't a V10 with a Yamaha intake, but the price is also nowhere near the LFA. The price/performance is off the charts.

@@honchoryanc Maybe it's because he's going to race it on the track so it voids the lifetime warranty. If so I wouldn't even have told them! I've never heard of a stipulation like that before but considering it's the first gen of that particular powertrain I'm sure Chevrolet is a little nervous about people tracking it until they find out whether the new powertrain is going to be bulletproof or completely fall apart after 36k miles!

Our dealership offers a lifetime POWERTRAIN on most vehicles. 10 years and newer under 100k miles. Good anywhere in North America. It mirrors the factory POWERTRAIN and kicks in after factory expires

Why do people congratulate him on buying another very expensive car?? He hasn't won something or suddenly gotten a car he can't afford. He either has owned or owns Ferrari's Lambos Porsche's Many Mercedes Bentley's on and on he's not poor. So much for Hoovies commitment to go back to buying Hoopties. All he buys now are the cars no one in the regular price bracket can afford. I worked as a car salesman years ago and there's a real inside type of attitude when it comes to car sales and those that sell them. Hoovie is such a total car sales person. Not a real petrol head.
