I’m not a eagles fan….but I think I just witnessed art watching them run the RPO
@JEMlivefootball2 жыл бұрын
very wholesome! they are such a good team running the ball, the fact that they can make it even easier keeping linebackers guessing and creating lighter boxes. It only hurts them if they get down in the game early because the run game isn't as much as a threat. so they need to stay in the game, run these on 1st and 2nd down and stay ahead of the sticks. They're going to be tough to guard!

RPO basically let's the QB play point gaurd, especially if they are a good runner. It's not gimmicky or remedial. It's flexible and dynamic.

that's such a great comparison. I think you're spot on. and don't get me wrong you have to run it VERY well to be able to have it work in the NFL. But if you reach that level, you just gain such an advantage when football is all about numbers

We got lucky with that penalty that wasn't called because they called it a billion times throughout the season. The problem I see with this identity is that IMO you gotta be able to also adapt and become a "drop back and pass" team, otherwise when you're playing from behind you're screwed. We all knew a good team with a decent defense and strong offense would beat us and it's exactly what happened.
@RJ-st5rw2 жыл бұрын
i agree but this opens up the pass because if a defence is keyed in on the run you will have 1 on 1 situations and if they drop into pass pro you have numbers in the box and can take runs 20+ yards down the field

Average is a kind way of describing Hurts throwing ability. You highlighted one play where they got away with lineman downfield. They were actually called for it too frequently because Hurts doesn't read a single progression quick enough, let alone multiple. He's also wildly inaccurate hitting spots, bailed on phantom pressure, his spin and run around like a chicken with his head cut off in a clean pocket is legendary and he has trouble pushing the ball downfield without crow hopping due to bad footwork/mechanic (and his phantom pressure/headless chicken antics). He put up average at best QB stats on the back half against some of the worst teams in the league and then got embarrassed in the playoffs. I'm not sure mastered is the right word. The RPO was pretty much scrapped because of Hurts inability to read quick enough for hard PA with limited reads. I think some of this has to do with his pre snap crouch because of his inability to use his periph to receive the snap, this is further highlighted by the plays he left on the field. Paint me a Hurts hater if you want.

@ESOLeroyJenkins2 жыл бұрын
@@thecoachphillyal2659 much improved. He’s reading the field a bit. The offensive spurts are fantastic play calling and he’s not needing to do much work. Arm strength is still lacking. I’d like to see more throws on a rope but he’s thrown some good rainbows, some ducks. I’m excited to see him in a game where he has to play 4 quarters. Hopefully Jax proves an actual challenge. The O is hard to defend and he’s caretaking well outside of his 1 qtr explosion a game so far this year.

I appreciate your content and I love the Eagles. But the real reason why they won 7 of their last 10 games was that they had THE EASIEST strength-of-schedule in the NFL for that stretch of the season. It's not their "fault", of course, that they had to play the opponents who were assigned to them. But the win ratio during that time does not necessarily indicate the effectiveness of their offensive approach. Their defense also got better at limiting the run, which helped greatly. I would like to imagine that they could go far with a good mix of RPO concepts. Hell, they got to the Superbowl with that approach using Nick Foles four years ago but no novelty stays effective for long in the NFL. Just look at how mortal the Kansas City Chiefs seemed last season.
