getconnectedmedia.com - If your family started taking photos before the age of digital, chances are, you probably have boxes full of old memories. But as they age, they degrade in quality. How do you preserve them and make it easy to share them? And most importantly, how do you do it quickly and efficiently? The answer is the Epson FastFoto FF-680W.
The Epson FastFoto FF-680W is a high-speed photo scanner with the ability to scan a range of different sized photos. It'll even do important documents. It can scan a photo at 300 dpi in as fast as a second. The beauty of this device is that not only can it scan the images, but it can make minor adjustments and corrections, too, allowing you to quickly scan through thousands of photos. You have control of the types of adjustments you make, so you don't go overboard. Or, if you prefer, you can have the Epson FastFoto FF-680W do the scan at the highest possible quality, so you can make those corrections on your own.
Photos can be stored locally, to an external hard drive, or uploaded directly to the web. The price is on the higher end of the spectrum, coming in at around $799 CAD. However, for those irreplaceable memories, it's well worth the price, and it's potentially much cheaper than sending them to a photo lab.
What do you think of the Epson FastFoto FF-680W Photo Scanner? Do you think something like this can help you digitize your memories? Let us know in the comments!

Thank you for your video. Did the scanner fix any scratches or marks on your prints; i.e., does your Epson scanner have the ICE Technology? I purchased the Epson v850, but the Epson, VueScan, and SilverFast software does not use ICE on photo prints.... bummer. So, I have to return the scanner for a different model. I am hoping another Epson might work on our photo prints.

So does it really handle a bunch of different physical formats at the same time? By the looks of things it seems like it handles similar formats in one go but dunno if it would work as good if you filled it up to capacity, I believe Epson says it's good for 35 photos in one go. It's a mechanic process so it could be a challenge to feed this thing with a variation of formats without any of them getting stuck in the process. Those gray side adjusters doesn't help much as they only work if the formats are identical or if you scan a paper. Another thing is the lack of PNG export. TIFF is lossless too but it occupies tons of storage space.

Unfortunately you can’t save direct to Google Photos unless they update the software since Google Drive and Google Photos have now split. But what you can do is save to computer/hard drive, then upload to Google Photos manually. Bit annoying but it works

I bought one. Worked well for about 200 photos, then started leaving scratches on the photos and lines in the scanned imaged. Especially on glossy photos. Cleaned rollers etc. Didn't fix it. Seemed to be caused by the rollers. But I couldn't see where. I returned it. Pity because when it worked was super.

@@joshymcdaniel9233 no smokers here. photos were clean. Stored in a closed container. Photos looked perfect. I wonder did something like old glue on the back of one of the photos scratch the roller. do they have an estimated life span? 100 000 photos for eg
@getconnectednow
@getconnectednow 4 жыл бұрын
It would be hard to say without having one running 24/7 until failure. Having said that, components in such devices have life spans of 100s of thousands of hours. If each photo took 5 seconds, for argument sake, as it can scan a photo in 1 second, 100 hrs of use would be at least 72,000 photos. Your mileage may vary of course.

Unfortunately, no. However, this one does have the capability to scan the backs of photos too, in case there are notes on them. It also does double duty as a document scanner. So, if there are old records or certificates, those can be archived as well.

@oliviadaly4795 2 жыл бұрын
If you have an external drive that’s permanently connected to your laptop, I don’t see why not? Just choose that instead of the default location (‘pictures’ for Mac) in the settings. Or if you have one you don’t keep permanently plugged in, save to desktop etc and copy the files over after each scanning session (make a second backup tho!) and delete from your computer after.

Read the Amazon comments… doubtless a great way to bulk scan a lot of SNAPS! But If you have quality shots, use a flatbed (or, for really serious work, and IF you have negatives - positives for you serious Photographers - a macro lens and digital camera) This time saver produces JPEGS while - even a low end - flatbed will give you a TIFF! What’s the diff? It’s like 1080P video vs 4K ie only wanna see your pics on a smart phone? KISS! But if you wanna put treasured family keepsakes on a monitor… TIFF/4K!
@oliviadaly4795
@oliviadaly4795 2 жыл бұрын
If you actually look through the scanner settings, it does give you an option to save in TIFF. I rented it for a few days, was thinking of re renting and doing the rest of my photos, then my dad pointed out if I rent it 4 times that’s how much it costs to buy. So I’ve used it (and am waiting for the one I bought to arrive) but I know for a fact it lets you scan 600DPI TIFF files...
