The Finals is a new free FPS first person shooter game with classes like light, medium, and heavy, which all have different builds and tips and tricks to play them well and win. It is an incredibly fun game that made gaming fun again and has lots of funny moments and pro gameplay. I'm not in the top 1% but I have friends who could be and I asked them about The Finals as an Esport. The Finals is the best way to win back the fun you had as a kid playing call of duty or fortnite or minecraft. Play on Xbox, PC, PS5.

It’s not gaming that isn’t fun anymore. It’s the games. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with growing out of the hobby, but the Finals is a great example of what you can get when you play a game made by people who wanted to make a fun game rather than just a side hustle or a store front

The Devs actually commented on the balance towards a competitive scene, and their stated goal was to focus more on fun for the casual player base and less on the competitive scene. Which I think is a good thing imo

Tbh i think competitive will come by itself without problems, more so if people get used to the game beign like this then the competiive scene will be like this, it’s the most sane esport course a game can take (opposed to overwatch) cuz this can be all natural viewership. I just hope they fix the aim assist problem

I think its a great thing they want to focus on their casuals, competitive players just aren't used to the more casual type of gameplay if that makes any sense. its just something theyll have to grow into. and if they dont like it, there are plenty of games that only care for competitive that they can go play

I think Battlebit for as short lived as it was in popularity was the first time in a long time people had the experience they'd been missing as kids. The Finals simply cemented the idea in our minds we can have fun games again.

The finals is one of my favorite games. I suck at a lot of shooting games but with the extra health that the heavy has I can actually win fights. I like gunning people down but I think the most fun I had was when the point was in the elevator which was the only part of the building that wasn't rubble and I was killing people with the hammer for a comeback win. Most fun I have had in a long time on a game. I spent that whole match just destroying buildings with my friend. That's what made me fall in love with the game.

I love this video. Black ops 2 was that game for me when i was 15 and I'm 26 now. The Finals has been the most fun I've had with gaming in years. I've put 150 hours into it already and I've only played solo. I imagine it would be even more fun with friends, but for now I'm enjoying it. I mostly play medium and the feeling of doing my own thing while also helping my team survive is the perfect balance.

It makes the dynamic so interesting, if you have a smart team with good comms you can wait for the other 2 teams to begin fighting and time a sneak attack / backstab sort of hit. Also sometimes you will be rooting for the other team to hold a cash out which is such a strange thing, to actively be rooting for an enemy.

Its unreal how diverse this game is. You can be in the most intense fire fight and have an ENTIRE building crumble beneath you with the cashout and utility everywhere. Trying to find your way around and fight amidst the rubble. The utility and throwables in this game provide a high skill ceiling and diverse strategy, while also being meme friendly. Great competitive game too. If they stay on top of balance i think this game has a huge future.

I stopped playing valorant seriously to play the finals and it was the best decision ever. This game is so fun to play because of all the possibilities and i have gotten so many of my friends to play it, one friend i have who is not very good at most shooting games was dying a lot so i told him to go heavy and just destroy things and when he got 3 kills in one rocket launcher he screamed yes and i was so happy.

Every e sports game I know of has super strong metas despite trying to balance everything, so balancing for fun instead of trying to crush metas just to create a new one seems like the better approach instead of pretending they can not have an objectively best option for each map

I absolutely agree with your video, really good editing and good content. I think that the movement is very good compared to others in the industry and i had never really thought of "shenanigans" as a good thing. But now that you mentioned it, it makes sense why the finals is so fun. The fast pased gameplay is great. And the not instant time to kill is nice too. Very good video overall. Grew up with the literal same games as you WTH My grandparents gave me a Wii as a kid so i mainly played WSR and a few story games (mostly Lego), as well as a shared ipad where i played pocket edition Minecraft and other mobile games dude. I got a PS4 as Fortnite blew up so that was my introduction to competitive, tho its crazy rare to find people like that nowadays dude.

For the first 1000 hours of Apex Legends I shined, because it wasn't about twitch-shooting. I could get out with my teammates banners, kill 2 teams fighting eachother by dodging and weaving between their firefight, and cross the map way faster than anyone else because that's always been my skill in FPSs. But then the shooting got so dialed in that it became a lot harder to do all that. The Finals feels like Apex did when it came out. Frantic, fun, and the person who wins isn't usually the players with the highest kills, but the best timing/pacing/conniving.

I remember loving Counterstrike as a twitchy kid--and hated Halo because it was too easy for bad players to get kills on me, but now I can barely even get a kill in CS and halo is where I go to get a few kills in--Much less eek out a win for my team anymore. In the Finals I clutch most games in the last second.

Titanfall 2 has hands down the best movement in a shooter game I've played, but The Finals is the next best thing IMO Edit: Also the AI thing isn't just to save costs, it's literally the reason why the announcers will talk about events as they are occurring, like a cash out steal and other interactions.

@@Spyderrock you can thank the constant nerfs / buffs for the current state of Apex. It'll happen to this game too. Apex was a blast when it first released, but it's core gameplay experience was slowly changed to fit into the ranked / competitive scene.

I heard one of the soundtracks you used and immediately knew it was severed steel, imo also a very good game with nice movements and destructible environment and the fact it is a single player game really tells that you don’t need all that esport competitiveness to be a fun game. It’s been free on epic games store once but I would say it’s worth every cent.

The finals is the only competitive fps I’ve played where I have fun even when I lose. It’s tense, chaotic, creative, and is a really fun change in pace. I really hope it keeps a good momentum

My biggest concern about the competitive scene is triple or double teaming. What’s to stop players from teaming up on a higher ranked team to eliminate them early on. And how would you stop it when the game does require you to work with teams at certain points in the game. At some points you want a team to cash in because it means you remain ahead as well so it is in your best interest to attack a different team. So you can’t outlaw it entirely but you also can’t really control it.

It really depends on a case by case basis since there’s no way to ban or rule out not killing a team even if they are infront of you, since that can be a valid strategy to buy time. I think the best way is to just create a new game mode with only 2 teams so their is no one to team up with

I feel like im outgrowing the competetive scene of most games now. I got introduced to games when I was 5 years old with a gameboy. I played a bunch of flash and online games until i was 13 ish, the I played a lot of call of duty. After that I moved on to league of legends ranked, I played osu until I hit top 1000, I played rocket league to grand champion, overwatch to masters, tft to top 300. I have been insanely competetive for a lot of titles and I am finally just having fun in games, lethal company was a great realization to this. The finals just cemented it for me. I want to have fun, I don't want to follow a specific meta or playstyle, Im just going to have fun. This game really puts that through, where I find 2 available friends and just have fun for a couple of games, who cares if one of my mates is bad at aiming, we are chatting and playing a game, like it should be. Thank you for putting it all into words in more depth. The biggest aspect for me is the casual aspect of it all.

they basically took all the adrenalin rush of arming an mcom from BF rush. but it works so well. watching that clock count down whilst enemy fight over the point. stealing with 2 seconds to spare etc. great fun.

From a logistical standpoint I don’t know why people would get so mad about ai generated announcers. The game has so much variety that it would take a very long time getting all the sound bits for every little difference and change made during the game. There are an ungodly amount team names and small map alterations and mid game rule changes (don’t forget the inclusion of a bunch of sponsors that the announcers love to bring up) so it only makes sense to easily populate it with relatively alright ai generated quips. Recording that many voice lines can be done it’s kind of the basis for rpg games but going with ai allowed the devs to allocate more time to amazing gameplay mechanics.

I fucking love the movement as light. Being able to grappling hook everywhere is a fucking dream. 1 thing I want to see is more melee weapons for medium and heavy. Give medium a longsword that alt fires deflects projectiles like grenades and grenade launchers, and does chip damage on bullets so you take less damage blocking but aren’t invincible. Give heavy brass knuckles that alt fire just punch together for big damage.

I think when people say “gaming isn’t fun anymore” the whole reason like you had said is we are older now. It’s been forever since I got on xbox and not been thinking about “what do I need to prep for the dinner rush at work tomorrow” or “I really need to make this payment for school” this just makes it feel like you need to be doing other stuff than gaming. When we think back on how gaming with the boys was. All of our biggest worries was our controller batteries running low. So the older we get. We feel like we need to be doing more important things with our life. And it fucking sucks:/

Gotta agree with you here I’m really enjoying this game. The most I’ve enjoyed a shooter since r6 and Fortnite releases. Definitely got my friends and I to start playing together more often as well. My only two issues with the game is I don’t love ranked yet and I hate the cloak ability.

this games is tons of fun, especially since its free, the graphics are amazing, and oh my god do i LOVE the destruction mechanics in this game, everything is breakable. only things i dont like so much is when you run out of ammo you dont have a side arm to switch to. other thing is i know it litterally just got released, but i would love to see more maps, and more weapons, maybe other classes, like super light, super heavy. or different variations of heavy, medium, light, im not too sure. i do think a forest or sewage map or even an airport map would be sick, and i love how all the maps are huge too. not small compared to other fps games.

A note on the destruction thing. Multiplayer games suffer with too much destruction because of server issues. Client to client seeing different things when destruction happens and that causing all sorts of issues. Bad company 2 had it in abundance but many seem to forget that. That's why a game like the finals didn't exist until now. It's usually new technology that makes that level of destruction possible without being a problem like before.

The AI isn’t just trained on the VA’s, the VA’s say lines and quips and stuff that are recycled in the game. The AI is just dynamically reacting to the situations in the game to throw out more realistic quips and stuff, like an actual commentary team

I'm of the belief that a fun game is a good game, even if it is objectively bad. How that plays in todays market is up for grabs though. I honestly feel like "competitive" trumps "fun" in the profit margins, but maybe that will change going forward. Also, regarding the AI-voices, I don't have an issue with it since it fits the theme quite well - I honestly feel it adds to the immersion that we are fighting in a futuristic VR-arena.

when it comes to capacity for shenanigans, tarkov is all the way up there for me. Want to play a shotgun with 8 flashlights and a thermal scope, you can do that and it works suprisingly well. Want to take a backpack full of grenades with you and bombard every living being you see? you can do that and it's really fun. There are so many different playstyles and ways to mod your gun it's crazy.

thank the good lord finally someone praised this game's aesthetic , this is exactly what I appreciate in games , the UI , the minimalism and banger music. also on the epsorts topic, the finals would make for an absolute banger of an esports. i love valorant and its esports , but i think it does not appeal much to any casual players , as if this game isnt meant to played for fun ( which i think is ok ) and esports can get way too confusing for a new casual viewer, and i believe The Finals can fix this easily.

what i truly like about the finals is that you don't have to kill people in order thrive, you could be an amazing player just from being skilled at taking cash out. i personally think too many games focus more on kills and competitivity rather than fun. and is nobody going to talk about how the SBMM is pretty perfect?

The sweaty light classes when I destroy the building they’re hiding in: 😮 In all honesty, my favorite moment in this game is when this one team was hiding in one of those floating yellow structures trying to cash out. I just ran in as a heavy with a sledge, did the rush slam once, and the entire fucking thing collapsed around us. This game is amazing, 10/10

There is a meta. It's still very fun because you'll be min-maxing to hell and back. When some top 100 player perfectly heavy charges a building, and somehow the three pillars he clipped wiped the whole thing out. So the meta then shits itself because who is hitting shots when the floor is gone, and you're actively falling through hell. I play in those matches. No one is really hitting anything. We are all trying to reposition back to our team and into some sort if peakable cover. This also queues every player blowing everything up, because if they cause even a moment more chaos, they have more time to reposition. Or to destroy the position of players that found a spot first. This sense of fun is the reason people had 15mil on day 2.
