In my part of the Americas, they lived in palmetto huts…for thousands of years.

I would like to see a tipi being set up. How they were able to set up the poles and keep them together. This was an incredible look at how indigenous peoples lived before colonization. It's sad that so much was destroyed.

*Our late father once said the Peabiru trails would stretch from South America all the way to Alaska etc...and the Mayans/Aztecs would travel such roads extensively back and forth...one of the possible proof of such activity...could be a several hundred years old sculped crystal skull found in Mexico...which lately further analysis of the crystal...proved it came from an area in the Brazil´s Amazon region...I believe Ancient Civilizations used the routes for trading...and exploration.*

I totally agree with your Dad, I have read about it somewhere. And even lately, foreign migrants go on foot from South America to the U.S through the Darién Gap(from Colombia/Panama and part by boat because the present Panama Canal)) then on en route to North America...

@@MattPSU02 There are the Darién trails. A Brazilian gentleman drove from Rio to New York/Detroit in a 1918 Ford Model T using such trails through the jungle during the 1920s. It’s continuous except for a small section missing along the southern border of Panama, often referred to as one of the most inhospitable places on the planet - this is The Darién Gap. It’s 66 roadless miles of dense, mountainous jungle and swamp filled with armed guerillas, drug traffickers, and some of the world’s most deadly creatures covering the border of Panama and Colombia.

Beautiful history before the settlement of European invasion. Community was the hallmark of their existence. So sad that these people were treated so wrongly because of greed and hateful acts of the invaders 😢

Yea. They were corralled and forced off their fertile lands to concentration camps. ☝️ They lived for thousands of years making limited mark on the landscape and it’s environment. In 300 we’ve nearly poisoned all its lakes, it’s deserts. Sad stuff. They had been here for over 30k years. New artifacts have been found. 30k. And we’ve killed off so many species just in the last 100. :/

By what I am hearing in this video is that if the Europeans hadn't invaded the America. The Native Americans would eventually have established larger communities and moved in the same direction as other humans around the world. We are proven civilization creators. This would have meant the expansion of one tribe into another tribe's area and the wars that causes. The loss of life might have been less than the loss from European diseases, but still people would have to convert or lose their homes. It is the nature of humans. Cheers

Maybe but considering they still hadn't invented the wheel it could have been several thousand years until they caught up to even ancient roman level technology.

I’m so grateful for colonization considering many of these tribes were at war with each-other for centuries, regularly sacrificed women and children and were participating in Cannibalism as well. The Inca children that were found in the icy mountains tops of Peru were sacrificed in the early 1400s I believe. They continued to sacrifice women and children until they were stopped. Often drugging the children with coca leaves and alcohol.

Grateful for colonization???? Freaking excuse me?? I remind you that there were also "tribes" that were against each other in Europe for thousands of years, cough Spain, England and France, cough, where they had horrible punishments for petty crimes, did not bathe at all, believed drinking someone else's urine would cure you, ate corpses of egyptian people that they stole sold as medicine, sacrificed women as well just for trying to read and I still have not touched the whole Spanish Inquisition, like if you really want to read about horrible and disgusting ways of worshipping religion you do not need to go to south america, you can stay in Europe. Trying to paint the indigenous people of the Americas as "savage" and being grateful that europeans "saved" humanity while torturing and killing millions of native americans just goes to show how much of a disgusting human being you are and how comfortable you are living in your on ignorance
