Lori Adams I have cousins who married into the LDS church, they cut ties with our family After they and their husbands gave us an invite to join- we declined and it's been three years, two weddings, our grandfather's death and several births have passed and still no contact. And no, my family doesn't drink, do drugs or cheat on our spouses.

Sam Sam I converted into the LDS Church (Not this crazy Flds) and didn't cut ties with my family. I go on trips for days with my cousins and my husband stays home, cutting ties with family who don't have the same religion It's NOT taught in the LDS Church. You cousins decided that on their own.

They split off from the Mormon church after it moved west to Salt Lake City, and they all believe in Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. They also believe in polygamy, which was taught and practiced under the direction of Joseph Smith and early church leaders, such as Brigham Young and John Taylor. Essentially, they are 19th century mormons who never gave up polygamy.

Rob Paulson The LDS church doesn't teach polygamy and the only reason they broke off is because they didn't wanna follow the church rules and one of em where not to practice polygamy anymore also in the Bible they practiced polygamy and that's just in the normal Bible and the book of Mormon doesn't say practice polygamy it's just how people where back in the day.

Some people can be easily persuaded by mere words. They have this notion that if someone can speak convincingly, that whatever this person say must be true. Not exactly...There have been many LDS leaders throughout history on record admit the only reason that the LDS church doesn't sanction the practice of polygamy is because it was outlawed by the govt, not because they don't believe in the practice. The history of the church confirms that the church officially lost the battle to practice polygamy and after continually failed political battles with US congress, they finally conceded to the demand to stop the practice as a means of self preservation. LDS believers should not conveniently ignore their own history of regarding their held beliefs about the sacredness of the practice of polygamy just because it was never an accepted by those outside the religion. FLDS is truly practicing what Brigham Young actually taught and practiced.

Most of them are so brainwashed and indoctrinated that they think that this is how it's supposed to be. People do leave occasionally, but it's difficult for them. They are watched constantly and if they leave they will be shunned by all family and friends. They have no formal education and no contacts on the outside, so that's another barrier to them leaving. If a mother tries to leave with her children they will come and track her down.
