So you're telling me you're able to bet on candidates to win the election right? Well then if I bet on Trump I'm going to vote for Trump. If I bet it on Kamala Harris I would vote for Kamala Harris. Wow that's what the great scheme to get people to vote for a political candidate you just make it look like they're going to win and everybody will vote for that person. That is pure genius from rigging the election even worse than it was ever rigged before. Oh yeah I'm for this whatever they want to put they'll put all this candidate we think they're going to win everybody will vote for them so they win the jackpot. That is a great way to control the candidacy on who you want in power you just make a more popular and everybody will bet on them and then no vote on them. They find a way to buy votes. Yeah and I'm not kidding they will change the election because of the way people vote I'm going to vote on who will win me a jackpot aren't you? Holy Spirit of Humanity

I worked part time in a casino while in high school. I was working at the bar or service. Many gamblers that spent a lot had A cards. Whenever they wanted drinks or food we had to deliver at the seat where they were gambling and they only had to sign the receipt and show the card. It was really shocking for me the whole thing. Addiction levels where so much worse because the casino would create the conditions for them to stay and keep gambling. Most would play 12h shifts 3 to 4 times a week.

Gambling destroyed my family many years ago. When I was a child, my father brought me to an OTB, and I had no idea what it was. I thought it was a weird smelling bank with TVs of horses. It looked like my father was talking to a teller, and there were plenty of pens attached to desks. When my mom found out how often he was bringing me there, she was beyond furious since he promised to never do that. Our parents divorced partly due to my father’s various gambling issues. Good point...but let me guess you still smoke? As an ex-smoker myself (who quit and haven't smoked again since 2004) I advise going cold turkey. Yes it is difficult. But if you don't have the cigarette in close proximity you are less likely to light up. Even if you feel anxious. What I would suggest (this is what I did): having a little plastic water bottle with you at all times (like a small coke bottle). Then whenever the craving for a smoke hit me, I downed the bottle. It just helped with the habit to do something with my hands and put something in my mouth. And drinking for couple seconds and having a full stomach just got me over the craving. Sure it didn't completely satisfy me (as a smoke would do), but it was just enough to calm it a little so I could carry on (without lighting up). Of course, this only works if you are really REALLY serious you want to quit. Without that decision nothing will help you.

I’ve been working in gaming industry in the US since I was 18 starting in food service, then in security, now in surveillance. I’ve never seen such a sad addiction, I’ve seen the elderly who can barely walk skimmer on into the casino to spend comp dollars, underage sneaking in anyway they can, and people waiting outside for hours for a gaming place to open and when it’s not open, I’ve seen people run into the door because they think we’re open when they are the only car in the parking lot, they will pull on the door, peek inside to see if we are open. One thing I remember vividly was when I worked security, I had a man come up to me literally begging me for help because his mother was gambling away his father’s inheritance and life insurance she received. Directed the guy what to do, but me being a 22 year old guard literally just out of college having a grown middle age man beg me for help for his elderly mother is ridiculous. Now I’m behind the scenes and shake my head seeing the regulars, elderly people, get up super early and sit on the ground in front of the front door reading the newspaper an hour or more before we open, and after that a line that formed out to the road. And this is just a simple poker room.

Maplestory is the game that truly started all this imo. Even when you killed monsters it became a chore to get your items dropped. They came out with a pet to gather in the game, for the low. Yea... First descendant just came out with the same thing. Guess whos idea it was. Nexon, the same company that came out with Maplestory

I grew up the son of a gambling addict. We ended up bankrupt in mid 80s due to my dad's addiction. It was illegal then. It's a very real disease...and now it's legal and at everyone's fingertips. An epidemic is coming.

Every single ad running before and during this video was a gaming site and online lotto (1/15/25). A video literally saying that gambling is destroying society exposed me to more ways to gamble than anything else outside of a casino. Such is the algorithm.

Poly market is not gambling, it’s a consensus mechanism similar to standard equity markets. if you have some alpha about an event that’s going to happen, you can buy the delta between your risk assessed price and the bid and profit. Consensus mechanism are also generally good for society as in normal markets they help price discovery and in this case they help actually determine outcome percentages.
@lucas096br4Ай бұрын
THAT'S what I'm saying. It works kinda like gambling but more on stock investing and graphs + common sense side. So it isn't anything like traditional gambling. This video was poorly searched here and there if polymarket is just in the list for the sake of "Oh gambling bad" narrative when it's literally incorrect I like this channel but don't shit on my investments thank you!

I want people to do what they want but know what they're getting into. Just like alcohol, gambling is advertised non stop during sporting events where many people under 21 will be watching. Not only that, but both products are advertised like its safe. Both booze and gambling ruin lives on a daily basis. The marketing agencies also love to hide the life long boozer or the degenerate gambler. Those kinda people dont end up on the new Grey Goose or DraftKings ads.

Part of the issue is that every other industry has been regulated into oblivion. Gambling is the only vice that is endorsed by the state.

Any time governments try to take action (if they try), developments in the sector make it harder to regulate. E.g. in Spain several actions have been taken to try to limit teenagers access to sports gambling and the like, but there is now a myridiad of gambling sites online. And not only for sports, but for all kinds of things as this video shows.
