I've been playing fallout since the 90's. The "'vials" we're talking about here are some new lore for the show. Ghouls either turn feral, or they don't. Some think that radiation exposure hastens the transformation, some don't. It's always depicted as random in the games. There is no "cure" for ghouls going feral. It's a matter of time. Perhaps Rad-X or RadAway might have some impact? Possibly. He's doing Jet. It's an inhalable meth-type drug. Think Slow-mo from Judge Dredd, the new adaptation. It's like that.

Ghouls have enhanced lifespans due to their very nature as Ghouls (a side effect of surviving massive radiation exposure) Jet helps them keep focused and also Ghouls are chem resistant Jet doesn't tickle them as much as it does a human; so they consume larger quantities of Jet to achieve the same effect a human would from consuming 1 vial of Jet. Now, one can speculate that long lifespan takes its toll on a mind and the Jet keeps their mind from breaking down and leading to going feral. Because not even Ghouls know for sure what triggers going feral, just that it eventually happens- in a way they consider it the end of their lifespan. It happens fast for some and very slow for others. Its one of the big mysteries of Ghoul lore. One thing is that Ferals don't attack Ghouls but Ghouls prefer interactive company like Humans or other sane Ghouls.

Cooper is one of the best characters
@superdave82488 ай бұрын
He is but his story is going to end on a sad note. His wife and daughter both are going to be part of some Enclave/Vault Tec program. Why do I think that? Because Teagan Meredith will have aged out of the original role if Janey was put in cryo soon after the bombs dropped. And yes, I think it was nothing short of a Hail Mary pass she even got in a vault to begin with. I suspect the show will indicate that Cooper was already starting to turn into a ghoul so he handed his daughter to his wife without knowing which vault she was going to. he just knows she was going to be put in cryo until it was safe to return to the surface. I don't even think he believes she is still alive. he just wants to know the vault number so he can follow up on the lead and see when it opened (if it did). He wants closure. Or to see if he has descendants still alive. But yes, at some point I do think his wife and daughter will be shown to still be live and his daughter is now a grown woman. And yes, he will sacrifice himself to save her at some point in the story. Season 2 opener I think we be more of Cooper's back story. Possibly when he hands Taney over to her mother. And yeah, I expect it to be somewhere outside, away from her destination and we will see people in X-01 suits and radiation suits for the exchange. To indicate that the vault she is headed to is very well supplied for the long haul.

I'm new to Fallout Fandom. I've never played the games and only seen the TV show, but I think 1 reason why Cooper's lived this long being a Ghoul is because of his mentality. I cheated and googled him, and found out he was former military. So I'm thinking it's not just the drugs keeping him sane/alive, but his mindset that he will not be beat. Plus, he's a man on a mission and has Q's that need A's. It could also just be good genetics? Everyone's built differently. Maybe there's just something deep in his DNA that gives him a biological advantage over others. Like how some people have x,y,z conditions that run in their family but it completely skips over them, or there's no history of x,y,z conditions yet they're the first in the family to have it. Either way, he's my favorite so far.

Not all ghouls are sane, most go totally nuts and the rest are typically seen as monsters hence why they aren't all that commonly seen in city locations unless it's a community of sane ghouls or other nuanced situations. Lucy's father is part of the Bud's Buds program in vault 31. His being "transferred" from 31 to 33 to marry Lucy's mother was really just him being unfrozen by Roomba Bud. There seems to be a steady stream of pre-war Vault-Tec executives being reintroduced to 33 this way so that they can maintain control. Betty, Steph and all of the previous 33 overseers were part of this program. Moldaver hasn't been explained yet. She might have made some deal with another faction or a foreign government in exchange for the cold fusion technology she was working on. The big tech companies didn't want it getting out, but maybe one of them decided to keep her around. Probably a similar cryogenic situation or she might even be a synth for all we know at this point.
