It's hard to put into words how amazing this video is. I'm not being sarcastic either. So much of online media is filled with follow this, buy that, click the notification bell, etc. Thank you for getting to the point and showing all angles in no more than 2:23 minutes. I'm subscribed!

100% get what you are saying, and agree, but you wanna know something kinda funny. You just watched a 2:23 minute video of an advertising board, a product whose sole purpose is to get you to "buy that". So perhaps it isn't that this video isn't filled with "buy that" but just that the advertising has transcended to a new level where you don't even notice (and actively enjoy!) it.

Awesome video, thanks for sharing and taking your time. May I ask that is the exact location in Shinjuku?, Do you know if they are more 3D displays around Japan?, I'll be visiting around August :)
@didibryan2 жыл бұрын
It's near the Shinjuku station east exit. Here 's the google map link: goo.gl/maps/D9WwmEtsM8RySEq6A It's the only one I believe that exists in Japan, but I've heard of similar 3d displays elsewhere like in China and South Korea.
@b199er3 жыл бұрын
I'd imagine this only looks great from a particular 3D viewpoint imagine a frustum. If you view this from 30 degrees above ground level it'll look odd. It's possible (in the lab) to produce displays with multiple viewing angles. Essentially you require multiple sub-pixels per pixel, either vertically, horizontally or both (e.g. 5x5 or 9x9). This requires considerably more data and more pixels, roughly 2-3 orders of magnitude more to get a good range. The other alternative is to build a display from voxels. Sqrt the current pixels and cube it (for 4k this means roughly 4000 times more data/pixels). The voxels would need to be highly transparent (roughly 0.1% opacity per voxel), and then these little light cubes would be lit. To maintain a typical 180dpi appearance at a minimum 200m viewing distance would equate to roughly 1 voxel per cubic inch. So any technology we have in future to mass produce roughly cubic inch/cubic centimetre voxel sheets would achieve this. This would provide an unlimited viewing angle, however no illusions of content appearing outside of the 3D cuboid space would be possible. I'd expect multi viewing angle would be the most popular as it's not intrusive on the real estate, voxel displays may also arise. Both these two approaches will become common during the 2030-2040 space. For now this achieves enough to make these displays immensely popular. In addition displays can switch content to suit different viewing angles at different times. Exposing the illusion to those who have already seen it, yet at the same time providing the intended illusion to other viewers at other vantage points.
