It isn't exactly red, but more like an orange hue, if you saw the ahsoka trailer the "Dark" Jedis there have similar colored lightsaber, who knows they may be of High Republic era of origin...

I was never sure if I really liked the idea of "bleeding your crystal to turn it red" over Sith making unstable synthetic crystals for lightsabers, but it's pretty cool to see it in game I guess.

I think it's a nice change and in tune with the nature of the dark side and the sith. Darksiders, especially sith are passionate, submit themselves to the extreme emotions and are eager to subjugate everyone and everything under their power. It's not surprise that they would try to bend even such things as kyber crystals to their will, since for the sith kyber and lightsabers are just mere tools to accomplish their goals. Also it explains why they exclusively use the red lighstabers, even though kyber crystals come in various colors, since those crystals have strong connection to the force and are sentient objects that can somehow "rejects" their owners, unless they are bled, and bleeding produce only such color as red.

@@mtsen771 I think both versions have their merits. With the synthetic crystal origins it kinda portrays the sith's unnatural nature. Preferring to create their own source of power rather than make a union with one the force would provide. For reasons of secrecy it's also likely more practical to make a crystal privately than have to kill a jedi and steal theirs without getting caught. At face value it might seem an anticlimactic origin but a lot of importance was put into the creation of a sith crystal. Darth Maul himself spent days in a small furnace without food or sleep making his, some crystals of sith lord were inherited and passed down like heirlooms, and non force users that trying to make synthetic lightsaber crystals almost always got themselves killed

Bleeding adds to the rivalry of the Jedi and Sith, I imagine it some sort of tradition that Sith needed to kill a Jedi and steal their kyber, depending on the victim could add to the prestige. Purifying could be seen as Jedi insulting the Sith.

Cal is really bad at talking people down. Dagan is clearly very emotionally imbalanced, and Cal's response is to pretty much to yell at and provoke him by lighting his own lightsaber up. This does not... Bode well. Also, what is it with Star Wars and doom shafts? Every facility you turn to, primary walkway, go through a door, platforms over a shaft of indeterminate depth fifty meters wide. Doesn't matter what the facility actually does. If it's larger than a small backwater hut or a Cantina, it has a shaft more at home in a ballistic missile silo than anything else.

To be honest his era of the Jedi were all insufferable. Imagine if something tragic happened to you and you vented to your Jedi companion and he basically said " so what bro we dont do attachments just drop it doesn't matter" lol they were TERRIBLE at understanding others emotions and were so stuck in teaching and detached from real life they were basically robots. Thats why Anakin fell so heavily he had ZERO guidance. Qui Gon would have been the only one to keep him under control.

I mean talking softly and passively isn't an effective way to ease someone out of their delusions either specifically in this situation, being firm was a better choice. Dagan was lost in his own bullcrap the second he was released. There wasn't anything cal could have said in that moment to snap him out of it.

@@vincentzhaiven4017 dagan was stuck in his ways, but a bit of Dagans dialouge makes it sound like he might not have tried fighting if Cal didn't ignite his lightsaber. I feel like they could've waited a bit longer for him to go berserk, it's not quite clear to me why dagans first impulse when he was awake was to bleed his crystal, or why cal feaked out as much as he did since most jedi didn't know the full details of bleeding crystals.

Yes and it was, the jedi let themselves be carried away by the corruption of the republic, they said they were guardians of peace and justice, while in Corossant millions suffered in poverty and misery right under the feet of the order, Yoda himself recognizes this in episode 3 saying q the Jedi are becoming arrogant, Asoka left the order because of this, because of the hypocrisy of the order itself, Qui-Gon Jinn and Count Dooku also lost faith in the order and the council, the fall of the Jedi order is a result of their arrogance and hypocrisy, they thought they were powerful and invincible and let themselves be manipulated by a shit lord right under their noses

Cal and Dagan wanted a similar thing but couldnt mix the ideas together. I dare say, if Cal actually had some sort of sense, he could of offered Dagan the option to visit two Jedi Masters, Cere and Cordova who would of all agreed about going to Tanalorr and could of started the Jedi there. What really bothers me, is that Ravis had the best options to have his own self defence force on Koboh and Dagan would of had Tanalorr, which would of given them two planets to operate from and it would take a reasonable size force of imperials to take down Ravis. That one star destroyer wouldnt survive long against overwhelming vulture droids and Hyenas, as well as an entire platoon of AAT's that could easily hold the ground. If Cal managed to get everyone together, there would of been quite a force. Ravis, Dagan, Cal, Cere, Cordova an entire army of droids and basically pirates a well established HQ on Koboh inside the Lucrehulk which has amazing defences and can only be air assualted basically. Whilst established on Tanalorr the Jedi would be getting more and more rebels and Jedi and force sensitives which eventually would start amassing a large force. The only thing they lacked was actual ships to enable a defense fleet. So many ways this story could of gone, but kind of happy how it is still.

Wouldn’t even need the Raiders to take down the Star destroyer. Cal and Dagan would be able to storm the ship and overload the reactor with relative ease.

So just so I understand, is the "High Republic" meant to be Disney's new version of BioWare's "Old Republic" or the "Old Republic" that was in Timothy Zahn's books? Or is it more like Darth Bane era because he's been canon forever? Or something else entirely to make this even more confusing? 😅

The High Republic is a closer analogue to Bioware's Old Republic but only about 200 years before the Original Trilogy. Tim Zahn's "Old Republic" is just the Republic from the Prequels

It seems a lot of Jedi avoid getting cybernetics like the sith if their attuned enough in the force to not need to. I think it's a mix of time restraint and expenses too. Dagans on a rush to get to Tanaalor and thinking about his arm probably only reminds of of his mission, plus I doubt he has a bunch of credits on hand to buy a new robot arm anyway
