As a Speech Pathologist all I can say is DOUBLE WOW! Uncanny technology out there and the world needs to know it. Thx David and David for educating the public as well as alerting those in need of such an advance for the hearing impaired population. U do cover a wide range of topics and I appreciate it.

I am a wearer of hearing aids for the past 35 years and have experienced the advances in technology of traditional aids over that time. Having otosclerosis, my nerve hearing is perfect so I think I would be an ideal candidate for this device. I know first hand the life changing experience of gaining the gift of hearing and it is a very emotional, almost spiritual gift from the wonderful people who bring this technology to those who cannot hear. Thank you guys for this information, I did not know about it until now. Thanks!

I'm eligible for a new cochlear implant--either the Nucleus 7 or the Kanso 2--and I'm wondering: which is better for sports? That aside, it's pretty amazing that there's an off-the-ear option, almost unprecedented.

Great interview! I have bilateral cochlear implants, and even a lot of medical personnels don't really understand how they function. This is great info for someone looking for an upgrade, or for someone who is trying to decide on doing the implant surgery. My own experience has been very positive, my surgery was 14 years ago, and it was a huge improvement in my life. Next you should review the newly released Nucleus 8, it's the newest, smallest on the ear processor by Cochlear Americas. I'm excited to have just applied for my own upgrade!

Would love to see how do you guys see the technology being adapted for lifestyle, or occupational health and safety purposes for say slightly hearing impaired (im half deaf), or in noisy work or public environments, or even entertainment!

We're just as curious as you are, but I'm afraid I would be doing you a disservice by trying to answer your question. The people at Cochlear would be happy to talk and are exponentially more qualified to answer it than I am. They have what they call mentors (people who have "experienced a hearing journey similar to yours"), whose opinion would undoubtedly be more helpful than ours. That said, we're excited to see where it goes, too! You can learn more about how to contact Cochlear here: www.cochlear.com/us/en/connect/contact-us When it comes to iPhones, we have a lot of the answers. When it comes to other things, I think it's better to say "I don't know" than to try to pretend. And even with iPhones, we don't have ALL the answers. :-)

I do not hear from my right ear due to being a Thalidomide baby. (the pills 2-3) were taken at the time my ears were developing and as a result I was born with no internal or external ear on the right side. The left side is fine. I have considered getting a cochlear implant but it is such a noisy world as it is, plus I’m already 61! But this is making me rethink not getting one. I plan to speak with my doctor about it and get her thoughts on it. We’ll see! Thanks for the info.

You know Sherry I don’t believe it’s ever too late to explore new technology to enhance better hearing. Go for it. Ask questions, because u may have absolutely no idea what u r missing.

I second Sydney's encouraging answer. I remember when a friend of mine and I applied to college at the same time. He was 50 and wondered if going back for a degree would be worth it. The advisor said, "In 5 years, you're going to be 55 whether you have a college degree or not. So why not make the most of those years?" And in my humble opinion, 61 is young. :-)

Is it true that people ringing in the ears also have a good chance of loosing their hearing? My ear has been ringing for several years and now I sometimes miss parts of what others are saying. Thx for this information

Sorry, fellas, but this is just a commercial. Why not tell us at the start? Don't you trust your subscribers? The words "Paid Promotion" are in tiny print on the bottom left, but many will not see that because they're watching Greg White's interesting story about recovering his hearing. Even the comments are suspicious. The artificial enthusiasm from influencers is sickly sweet. Here is a reasonable question which I believe you should answer.... If you've been paid here, how many other times have you been compensated by companies for giving preference to their latest smart phone plans? Otherwise, this may have been the most helpful video you've run, since we all know people with hearing issues

Hi Max, thanks for watching and for your questions! Yes, we received a fee from Cochlear for making this video. The "Paid Promotion" message that appears in the bottom left-hand corner of the video for everyone who watches it is a KZbin checkbox and requirement. If you think it should be more prominent, we would encourage you to direct that feedback to KZbin's team. We don't have any control over how long or how prominently the message appears on the video. A link to find out how to give feedback is here: kzbin.info/aero/PL9hW1uS6HUfutYczOwkTzDI5iTucF4gmh We've never been paid by smartphone companies for giving preference to their plans, but we sometimes make a commission when people buy a plan after clicking a link from one of our videos or websites. That said, we never endorse plans we don't believe in. Making money has to be a priority in our business or we wouldn't have a business. But we could cite numerous examples where we've said no to "snake oil" or predatory products and plans. The other reason why we don't make money from endorsing cell phone plans is that of the cell phone carriers we recommend in our most recent video, none have expressed interest in working with us, even after we've reached out. Growing a KZbin channel is a lot of work, and we hope that by continuing to make videos that are in the best interest of our viewers, we'll end up in a place where companies like AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and the like will want to pay us for that sort of thing! We were honored when a company as well known and respected as Cochlear approached us, and they were an absolute pleasure to work with. I truly believe the Kanso 2 Sound Processor is a miraculous feat of technology. Companies like Cochlear, whose products drastically and meaningfully improve the daily lives of their customers, are diamonds in the rough. Hopefully this kind of transparency puts your mind at ease. We would never want to betray your trust. - David P.
