betterhelp is literally false advertising. they don't have trained professionals, they sell your medical data (which is illegal in the US), and their emergency line is staffed by people who are given literally no training in some cases. i don't mind things like raid shadow legends because those scummy businesses are at least upfront with how they are trying to scam you. betterhelp is breaking laws. i really don't wanna unsub from this channel but i have from others if they consistently take sponsorships from such companies.

I was surprised about the restrictions on desserts, especially ice cream. When I was in the Boy Scouts around 1954, the troop toured a destroyer at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. You know what I remember about that visit? The soda fountain in the Crew Mess. A giant soda fountain! And each of us got our choice of ice cream soda, sundae, milk shake, etc. Boy were those treats good! The ship was being decommissioned from the U.S. Navy and transferred to the Navy of a South American country. I don’t remember which one. The sailors from the new country had permission to bring aboard anything they could carry. We saw a bunch of sailors coming up the gangway with washing machines, refrigerators & other major appliances on carts. I guess those things were rare in their home country, but plentiful in Philadelphia. All I wanted to see was the engine room, but we weren’t allowed into that space.

i was the EM1 in charge of maintenance and emergency repair for all the galley equipment. "hey, that burnt crispy goodies over there, could you toss that in with my Roast Beast and gravy?" i treated them well and was well fed, so were all my crew. "Hey! loved the roast turkey!"--"It was roast port, assmunch!" "i don't care, can i get seconds?" everybody likes a compliment. the morning they catapulted me off the flight deck on the USS JFK the galley captain personally made me a 3 ft x 3 ft loaded omelet, and had his whole crew photo'ed with me on the aft mess deck. that was nearly 40 years ago, during desert shield/storm, and it was a great memory. the best friend you can have is a cook. he knows where all the knives are too.

I think the Navy ultimately does a better job with a chow hall than the Army does. In the Army, soldiers can either go to the chow hall, AKA the DFAC(Dining FACility) or if they are married/of a high enough rank, they are alotted BAS(Basic Allowance for Subsistence) & BAH(Basic Allowance for Housing) which they can use for groceries. Before, BAS was something that everyone got, regardless of what rank you had or if you were married. Eventually, that was taken away from single soldiers living in the barracks, with leadership citing "misuse of BAS", which meant that you now had to go to the DFAC or use money from your base pay to eat elsewhere/get groceries. Compared to the Navy, where galley seating might be segregated based on rank, but pretty much everyone goes there on a ship and since you have everybody go there, you know the cooks have to really put in the effort to make good food. At the DFAC, the food quality is wildly inconsistent from days when the DFAC is "undersupplied"(not sure how true this is) to days when they literally close the DFAC and give "food supplies" to the soldiers that need them. Add in the fact a lot of soldiers, both cooks and non-cooks don't have a great time at the DFAC whether they are paying to eat there (married/high ranking) or have to eat there and you get a chow hall that really sucks. Perhaps they should just go back to giving everyone BAS at the minimum. Even the cooks that I know hate being/eating there.

$20 per navy soldier per day in food? Aren't most people just sitting at like a desk on a boat? This feels what it costs me to feed myself as a single person buying like unoptimal food at the grocery store. How's an organization buying mega massive bulk food with government contracts NOT beating that price?

I gotta jump in here and say something. The United States Navy has the best chow of any branch of the Armed Forces of the United States. This is not just my opinion, this has been proven over decades by multiple different surveys and multiple different ways of determining what's good and what's not. I served 6 years in the USN and I was always absolutely amazed at how good the food was onboard ship. It didn't matter where we were either. In port in our home port in the US or in the middle of a combat zone for weeks/months on end, the food served aboard my ship and other ships I was fed on was top notch and it didn't matter which meal it was. Breakfast, lunch, supper, or midrats was always good. Period. I had occasion to eat at Army facilities, Air Force facilities and once at a Coast Guard place and all fell short of Navy chow, although the Coast Guard was pretty damned close. Navy cooks/culinary specialists are the best in the world at what they do. And, speaking just for myself, I was and am still very grateful and amazed at the outstanding jobs these people did and continue to do. I've met cross branch personnel who came from other branches to the Navy just because of the food. 👍🇺🇸

People suffering from mental health challenges should not have to face the scandal that is Better Help because a KZbinr is either misinformed, desperate, or whatever other reason they may have. Thankfully you got a very sensible community, but I don’t need to tell you to tread carefully with sponsorships. You’re a smart man, so please… don’t throw that respect most people have for you down the drain.
