They had no wind tunnel, next to no resources other than the RCR engines and at one point only 7 full time crew members. That team was a joke and Johanna punched well above her weight. I just wish that fucking tire wouldn't have blown out on her at RIR in 2012, she had just flown past Denny Hamlin for 6th and was one of the fastest cars on the track that night.

My take on Danica is she had raw driving talent - which showed early in her career and in Indycar her first couple seasons when she was able to run up front. Her racing IQ - learn, adapt, racecraft, etc......well it was lacking badly. From what I have heard - when she got to NASCAR - her biggest issue was not working well with the crew to adjust the car for what she needed - and really just a lack of desire/effort to even try to get better (or make the cars better). She just wanted them to set-up the car and let her drive. Clearly - she didn't learn from mistakes well either - as she put the car in bad spots over and over in NASCAR only to get wrecked. I do think some other drivers roughed her up at times - but not because she was a woman - because they raced her like she raced them (all take and no give).

To all of the people bragging on her 14th place run, allow me to save you the trouble. No other driver with her equipment would get excited about a 14th place run, it's 14th... the 13th loser. Without cheating, off the top of your head who finished 14th last week? does anyone care? it's 14th afterall. To Danica I'm sure this is like a win, that should tell you something. Position by attrition, she got lucky with all of the tire failures and part failures, plus she had a decent short run car and the yellows at the end saved her ass. She should also thank Nascar for having the wave around rule because without it she would have been at least 2 or 3 laps down today.

thatguyonstage debatable. I am very disappointed by the sound of new cars yes. However, technology needs to move forward. Much like a lot of early nasa tech is now used to make our daily life better, historically, f1 tech ends up as a baseline for research and development of new tech used in road cars. There are cars out now that use systems similar to KERS to make insane power while retaining smaller engines and good fuel economy. Energy crysis is real and tech like that is what allows us to still have extremely fun cars that fall within production criteria for safety and fuel economy. Hell, if it wasn't for F1 we would probably still only use carbon fiber in aerospace industry. Yet we have tons of road cars, mostly high end, but recently even lower end cars such as alfa 4c and that new BMW hybrid use a carbon chassis. Technology needs to be pushed. We can't be stuck in the past. I would kill to hear those good old v12 and v10 engines rip around a track as well, but I completely agree with new regulations and I'm glad they are in place, giving engineers challenges to overcome.

Kyle Petty said it right. Danica is one of those drivers who can be fast in qualifying when she is just about the only driver on the track, but she isn't a racer, at least not in NASCAR. She was way out of her depth and I 100% agree that if not for her being a woman, and a good looking one at that who attracted big dollar sponsors, she would have been given her marching orders LONG ago. She had what, 46 or 47 wrecks in 110 races? Granted they weren't all her fault, but at least half of them were. She had an average starting position of 25th and an average finish of 24th. With the equipment she has had with SHR her results should have been a LOT LOT better.

Qualifying and racing are two different things, you're alone on the track when qualifying and on plate tracks it's easy to just keep your foot down on the floor. It's funny, I remember people complaining when Casey Mears drove for HMS and JJ Yeley drove for JGR. All I heard at the racetrack for both of them was "He has no excuse, driving for the best team, etc". Mears had one win (I think Yeley ironically finished second that day) and that was it. He was still criticized. Yet, Danica is still struggling, but some people will defend her at all costs. People can't have it both ways. That being said, I hope she will get better.

My big issue with Danica is - everyone here. She is nowhere near as good as the media made out, and nowhere near as bad as everyone here is making out. You go over onto NASCARNixon's 'NASCAR Tempers' videos to see drivers talking shit about other male drivers exactly the same here. Hell, some male drivers would probably turn up more times over here. Let's be honest, people are pissed off that Danica got hyped to the moon when she turned up in NASCAR, and have gone the other way - either she's amazing or she sucks. There's no middle ground. Put it this way - she did a helluva lot better at moving into NASCAR than Dario Franchitti did, and Dario is one of the greatest Indycar drivers ever. I'd be interested to also compare her record and average finishes in a season to other drivers who people rate highly.

No, she is actually awful. She does not have a top 5 yet in over two years and she finished LAST among all drivers of the major teams each of those years. She beats a few cars that have inferior funding and equipment and that is it. Franchitti was awful in Nascar but he only ran 10 races in the Cup series. In the Nationwide series he actually had a higher average finish than Danica did. You know you are in trouble when you have to compare her with the worst drivers and she STILL loses the comparison.

She can think herself lucky she never had to race against guys like Dale Earnhardt Sr., DW, Rusty, the Bodine's, the Allison's, Yarborough, Baker etc. She thought the mob she ran against was tough or unfair.....that lot would have killed her NASCAR career before anyone had a chance to remember her name if she drove and behaved then like she did when she was in NASCAR. Remember how they all virtually turned on Ernie Irvan for a while in 1991 when he caused a couple of big crashes (Talladega and Pocono)? And Irvan was a proven race winner, unlike Danica who's only stock car win was with her bank account.
