@@amandagold2648 I doubt that "you have the same first name" is any reason for having a similar opinion. Regardless, it's not good policing. It's absolutely terrible. In fact, it's entirely outside of any reasonable justification to talk down to a detained man. She fails her own department's mission statement. Emotional policing is terrible policing. I do not care if she had that readied in her head and she didn't mean to say it in relation to her death. I do not care if she was heated because of what happened. A good peace officer responds with a steady head and professionalism at all times. You cannot convince me that any of this except for the SWAT officers were actually serving the community with the department's values and general professionalism in mind. It's her job to be equitable, respectful, aware, and objective. She responds emotionally and ridiculously to a man who's already surrendered himself and is detained. "And the punk who she has just shot someone she works with, do you really think she’s not upset ." DO YOU REALLY THINK HE ISN'T? After watching his girlfriend bleed out next to him. He's a law abiding citizen. Not a "punk" as you say. He's entirely shattered. Imagine sleeping by your loved one and 3 minutes later she's dead on the floor right next to you. Imagine that. But the peace officer gets a pass with her unprofessional responses while Kenneth Walker ( a man who has no charges against him, a man who is a legal gun owner, who showed more tact in an unknown situation than the officers by shooting to wound unknown gunmen, and who had to watch his loved one die) gets labeled as a "punk". Yeah, I noted that as well, that’s fcked up. Something like that is never okay in any situation, even if he was a criminal, which he doesn’t even seem to be. I get that some dangers and mistakes comes with a job, surgeons/doctors lose patients occasionally, and police makes mistakes too. The difference is whether those mistakes could have been prevented, and what the intentions befind an action were. And it’s obvious in this situation that this could have prevented, that the cops bade inexcusable mistakes, and that they acted with an intention to hurt the victims, especially with that comment. I’m not going to say that they deserve live time or something like that, since not all of the officers might be at fault. But the case needs to be investigated more thoroughly, and some punishment has to be given for the mistakes, so that we do not condone that such mistakes are done again. Letting them off free is just telling them, that others can make the same dumb mistakes, which might lead to the loss of lives, with no consequence at all.

What I don't understand is how you do not think someone is automatically going to defend their home, when they have no company coming over at 12:40am, the entire apartment is dark except a tv and you don't hear a bunch of people inside. You burst open their door and they can see lights, guns, shadowy figures of multiple cops, etc. Even if I'm allowed to answer my door, it takes one cop to say the word "gun" and I'm as good as dead. If I am not expecting company after midnight and you knock and bang on my door multiple times, I am going to be prepared with my licensed gun. Period. And lets all act like race isn't a factor. They see a black man accused of drugs in the past or present and immediately go to thinking their must be a bunch of black people in this house with guns and drugs and the whole time, it was the house of a nurse with zero drugs on the property and a new boyfriend who was protecting himself and his girlfriend as was his right.

@@luiskp7173 It's about accountability. These body-cam videos aren't publicly available, unless it's either the policy of the respective police department to do so, or a relevant authority has ordered it made so. Therefore, there is no good reason to not keep a video record of the debrief. If for no other reason, than to the preclude suspicion that they have something to hide. A suspicion which, given the facts of this particular case, would seem justified.

@@luiskp7173 yes, and it’s a very intense adrenaline dumping shock inducing scenario. I have the upmost respect for police. Your guy blind firing was not professional, and before putting someone in a life or death situation you would figure you would give someone more then a couple of seconds in the middle of the night when your asleep. Why should we care that we are listing to there debrief. (In todays world I do understand how words can be twisted especially in such a sensitive topic but if it was video of us, it would be subpoenaed and used against us in court why does it matter so much fun it’s on the other foot).

Incompetence is incompetence. These "officers" need to go. Idc what race anyone is. This is disturbing & totally unnecessary. These "cops" think life is like Call of Duty or something!

@Ja Question though, why did the male subject in the apartment shoot first? If he didn't open fire, none of this would have happened.

@@kevintyrrell7409 If you watched the video, cops burst down the door without announcing themselves. He shot a guy in the leg as a warning, not even fatal. Totally within his right to "defend his home", which the NRA loves to support.
@kevintyrrell74093 жыл бұрын
@@Pain-rk7hu It is inconclusive if the police announced themselves. The entire squad says they did. I'd say its a bit easier to trust eight+ people who are right next to the noise rather than a few tenants who are far away from the noise, behind doors, sleeping, etc. You don't shoot as a warning. The moment he shot the police, he endangered the lives of every officer there. As he said, it was pitch black and he couldn't see a thing (his fault by the way, turn on lights in the future when someone is at your door). Shooting blind, he could have killed an officer. The officers from that point returned fire as they are allowed to (with the exception of the officer who shot through the window blind).
@arklu83413 жыл бұрын
@@kevintyrrell7409 for the same reason then, they shouldn't have returned fire blind either. They should have backed out of the funnel and taken cover behind the wallse I understand why the first officer returned fire, and he only shot four rounds. But Cosgrove shot 16 rounds into the darkness without seeing any return fire afterwards and that is just pure recklessness.

Not one neighbor heard the cops announced themselves. All the surrounding neighbors would not have called the cops if they knew it was the cops!

It's 12 am, not everyone's gonna hear banging outside their room then also outside their apartment. Through the courts its only confirmed that the only neighbor who was 100% in a position to actually hear what officers were doing, was literally the one who said he heard officers announce.

@@timmysmith9991 And yet spin it any other way, There's literally not enough evidence to say they didn't. The facts as they are now, present no substantial evidence to make the claim they didn't announce, it just slightly favors in the rule of the officers, the neighbor above the apartment was the only one in a position of knowing 1. the officers presence outside 2. aware of what seems like a raid/police activity that needed secrecy or his immediate leave of the scene. because the neighbors ALSO said they didn't hear anyone knocking even though it was confirmed they did. Even in their testimonies some mentioned they "woke up" to the knocking. The court provided justice by dropping the charges on her boyfriend, since all they have to go on is hearsay.
