Count me as someone who watches your recaps of races I've already seen just for your insights into the minutiae of the races that I probably missed out on. Easily the best commentary on bike racing on the internet.

Best commentary on races period. Whether print or TV, no one seems to be able to explain tactics and strategy.

Cosmo your reviews are just great! Better than those from TV stations. You pay atention to every detail of the race and show the main action moments. Great job!! Greetings from Venezuela

thanks again cosmo! No race is complete for me without watching your analysis, your work is much appreciated!

LOL, yeah nice song selection. Also, enjoyed you pointing out the various times in which wind made for a tactical decision point in the race. Another great HTRWW - thanks Cosmo.
@howtheracewaswon10 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I feel like I left the wind out a little bit at Roubaix. I don't think it was as big a factor then, but it's the nature of the sport that it's always in play.

Another fantastic HTRWW - you really have a fantastically keen eye for those little details. Love it!

Ride On Cosmo Another great video that is helping me explain the sport to those new to it. Your analysis of the tactics used, in the short amount of time of your videos has been a great teaching tool. The peloton is growing!

Another fantastic video! After every pro race, it's basically a countdown for me until a HTRWW video is posted! Thanks for doing what you do Cosmo!

I shoot for Mondays, 8-9am Eastern US time (UTC -4:00). About 24 hours after the race coverage goes live. Usually works out, occasionally doesn't.

thanks for posting this series- I'm a newly-minted motoref & enjoy the tactical discussions (and pointing out of moto-mistakes!).

I love these summaries. Even from races I watched. You catch and/or explain things that aren't obvious to me. Also, like the good-natured snark and humor. Thanks!

Another terrific review Cosmo - fabulous work. Shame we couldn't enjoy any Voeckler 'gurning' shots. His face is pure entertainment. Thanks :-)

Hey, at least you got the Oscar the Grouch headshake :) If you're after Voeckler gurning, last year's Lombardy video should keep you satisfied for a few seasons to come: How The Race Was Won - Giro di Lombardia 2013

BMC and Gilbert showing us how a race is won!
@tommyb-fairweatherlocomotive10 жыл бұрын
Yours is the kind of analysis that you just can't get from other coverage. Call me a casual but I feel like I only need to watch the last 15 k off steephill and then HTRWW to get a good idea of what the race was like.

Great Vid, However Gerro was staying left on the road because he was trying to force someone else to lead up the climb. When Gilbert went Gerro was still hoping someone else would chase Gilbert and when that did not eventuate he then tried himself. The wind was channelled down between the barriers of the climb which is why no one wanted to lead the chase. This made Gilbert’s attack even more impressive knowing the environmental conditions.
@howtheracewaswon10 жыл бұрын
Huh-hadn't thought about the barriers channeling the wind like that. Guess it's tough to tell without any flags in the middle of the road. I definitely think Gerro looked for help in chasing Gilbert down, but I'm pretty sure he's attacking Kwaitkowski when he punches over to the outside of the curve right before Gilbert makes his move.

Cosmo Catalano Spot on everyone was looking at someone else to do the work in bring Gilbert back. The frightening thing for everyone to see was he made it look so easy riding up that hill as the wind was trying to work against him. Top shelf production as always Cosmo, I'm looking forward to your race review of Fléché Wallonne and Liège.

roadman73 Yep-Gilbert is like uphill Cancellara. When they're on form, they both have that huge 1-2 minute max effort that just can't be matched. Gotta beat 'em with tactics.
