Most likely there is way more data in Russian, as with many Russian organizations/projects etc. I think this is what sparks this belief that most Russian things are secretive, just because most detailed info is in Russian and usually nobody bothers to translate "this Cyrillic nonsense"... If you're Russian, like I am, you usually have way more info at your fingertips, if you're willing to do proper research. Which people don't care to do anyway...

Russia's Federal Protection Service is probably the most secretive agency employed in the protection of ANY president around the world - it's a fact, it's not about the language barrier, this is how FSO work. The agency has more than 50,000 (officially) uniformed personnel but its director is a man of mystery himself. This is all you know about him - www.kommersant.ru/doc/2996761 No common person knows what a 56 years old man did all his life before becoming the Director in 2016. The point is, it's not all 'language barrier'.

But makes sense to me about the secrecy around FSO. FSO is the first and last line of defense for the president and other top level VIPs, the more data about them are available the bigger the chance that some of the agents or assets can be compromised, blackmailed, bribed etc. And here it takes only a single bad apple for everything to fall apart.
