The color of the sea is primarily determined by the absorption and scattering of sunlight by the water. Pure water absorbs colors in the red part of the light spectrum and scatters colors in the blue part, giving the sea its characteristic blue color. Other factors influencing sea color include the presence of algae, which can give the water a greenish hue, and sediments or organic matter, which can cause the water to appear brown or muddy. The angle of the sun, the depth of the water, and the presence of particles or organisms all contribute to the varying shades and colors observed in different parts of the ocean.
