The Seattle Seahawks almost had it all. After building a super bowl team in just 4 short years, one singular play would kickstart a collapse as we've never seen before. So in this video, we look back at Richard Sherman, Russell Wilson, and many more characters who all unintentionally led to the downfall, of the potential seattle seahawks dynasty. R.I.P Tavaris Jackson. For those who dont know, in April 12th 2020, Tavaris Jackson swerved off a roadway into a tree with his 2012 Camaro. In his career he had over 7,000 passing yards a superbowl ring and 39 passing touchdowns. In his time he played for the Minnesota Vikings from 2006-2010 and then the Seattle Seahawks from 2011-2015. He was 6,2 225lbs and ran a 4.69 40 yard dash at the NFL Combine. I hope in wherever afterlife he believes in, Tavaris D'andre Jackson lies happy. We Seahawks fans give you respect for wearing the same number as geno smith. It also hurts me that I was the only one to mention his sad death.

Even though they didn’t turn out to be a dynasty, they certainly felt like one in the making. From 2012-2014 the Seahawks felt like the NFCs version of the Patriots. They almost always seemed to find a way to win big games… until Malcom Butler happened.

Those Seahawks were very similar to the Chiefs of today in my opinion. I’ve spent a lot of games watching, wanting those teams to lose. Young Russ was similar to Mahomes in the way that he’d always find a way to escape the sack on 3rd down and keep the chains moving. Their victory almost felt inevitable.

Believe it or not, the game that really was the driving force between the locker room divide was the NFC Championship. The Pro Russ/Anti Russ locker room thing you mention earlier dates back to even before the 2014 season. Despite Russ playing the worst game of his career, multiple players came out and said Pete went out of his way to praise him and give him a ton of credit for the win, despite the LOB holding the packers to 16 points on 4 red zone trips (3 of which were off of Wilson INTs). The Super Bowl ending really was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Wilson and Kearse sucked so bad that day, until they didn't. But it was Marshawn Lynch on offense and the defense who kept the game close enough to still have a shot at the end. But yeah, couple that with the super bowl debacle at the end, and I can see how players lost their faith in Carroll.

Fun Fact: The Seahawks made it to back2back Superbowls, when Russell Wilson was on a Rookie-Contract. Once they started paying him like a superstar, they won two Wildcard games in 6 years. But hey, that is Denver's problem now. But it is just amazing, how decent to good Quarterbacks like Wilson actually cripple your ability to compete for a championship, once you pay them... yet everybody always pays them.

Let's look at the example I follow the closest: The Vikings were in the NFC Championship Game with their Back Up QB Case Keenum. They then invested big to get Kirk Cousins, who is decent... and won 1 Play Off Game in 5 years. Everyone was like "Let's throw 24 Million a year at Cousins, that will bring us back to the Superbowl after an eternity." No one was like "Let's pay Keenum half of that and invest into the skill group..." Can you build a Superbowl Contender around Cousins? If you pay him 12-15 Millions a year, you could. But you can't get Cousins at that price tag, so the answer is No. On the other hand, look at the 49ers skill group and how good they look, while playing Mr. Irrelevant at Quarterback. They can afford that group, because their Quarterbacks 7 Millions. All of them combined. Once they sign Prudy to an extension, they will have to let a lot of guys walk...

Aaron Rodhers went to one, but never again, but he played well. Nick Foles won, got paid and is gone. The fact is that it is not easy getting to the Super Bowl no matter how much you're getting paid. That's why the smart ones like Troy Aikman and Tom Brady were willing to give up a lil money. They weren't satisfied with one Super Bowl. Look at Drew Brees, Dan Marino. Because by design, you can't keep that team together. Which gives every team a 4-5 year cycle to win the Superbowl at best. After that, the players are too expensive to build a decent roster. Even the Chiefs with Patrick Mahomes seem to fall into this trap. But the ugly truth is also, that Earl Thomas had to hold out, because the Seahawks refused to pay him. He then broke his leg in what was his last game. Earl Thomas has earned 79 Million Dollars in his career. Willson is scheduled to make 477 Million. 182 as a Seahawk. Cam Chancellor, Richard Shermann and Earl Thomas got a combined 175. Imagine paying Wilson 2/3 or half of that money and spending the rest on great players.... But since every QB contract has to break the previous record, that is an impossible thought... except for Tom Brady and the Patriots, who refused to play this game. Brady also won so many Superbowls, because he was willing to take massive pay cuts. Smart man.

As a Seattle born and raised man. All I care about is that for 1 year (superbowl year) the Hawks were the best team in the NFL and dominated with no question. We had arguably one if not the greatest teams ever seen. Not many teams can/ have experienced that. What goes ip must come down eventually but when when we were up we were an untouched level. Even though I am a Niner fan and didn't like the team, I respected what they had, and how during the Harbaugh years, they went toe to toe with the niners. I do not think that the interception in the Super Bowl was their ultimate downfall. It was when Russell Wilson's rookie contract was up. When you have to pay your qb a lot of money, the rest of the talent around him eventually suffered. While people credit him for keeping the team afloat, the reason he was running for his life almost every game is because the o line was the area management look to to go cheap on to pay Russell. He didn't have a good old line. ONe of the reasons Tom Brady was so good was because he was kept upright in his games. He had a good old line, because he never took max contract deals, allowing even a few million freed up for a key player, such as an offensive tackle, solid pieces on defense, etc.

It was a fun ride in the Northwest in the 2010s for Seahawk fans. This video is a great summary of the overall story. But I guess I don't look at at the "what ifs" so much as Seattle played the weirdest brand of football for nearly a decade. There were even articles about how they just seemed incapable of ever playing a normal game, with so many going down to the last drive or whatever. It was fun, exciting, heart-attacking inducing and rarely boring. We watch football for entertainment, at its core. Seahawk fans were always entertained, even if some of it was painful. My theory is that their insane, miracle comeback against Green Bay in the NFC championship game used up all their luck. That's still the most incredible few minutes of football ever. Wilson went from playing his worst game ever to his best. Meanwhile, Marshawn Lynch kept it together. It also helps Mike McCarthy was a timid man that day. This new version of the Seahawks might have their own championship run in them soon. But I'm not sure they'll ever be the same wacky bunch of characters as the mid 2010s Seahawks. They were legendary. And we'll always treasure that thumping of Peyton Manning. As a fan, I'm satisfied.

From a Seahawks fan, I think that the 2010's teams should be considered very good as a group. They won one championship, and with less friction and better execution in some spots, they may have won more. But they were a strong, consistent playoff team for the better part of a decade, and there's no shame in that. As for the team of late, we'll see how far they can go. I heard Geno Smith didn't do that great in the second half of the year, but with the latest draft pick, we should have an improved defense. As for Russell Wilson, looking back he was more of a solid game manager in 2013 and arguably 14 as well with the defense and running game obviously being the better components (possibly one of the last teams with that kind of a setup to win a title), but credit him for being a key player, and more of a significant factor on the playoff teams after that. After reading the last part of your comment, I'm glad I'm not the only one who looks back and enjoys the championship we actually got. I hear a lot of people complain that Super Bowl 40 was rigged, and a lot of people complain that we threw the ball on the one yard line, and I see relatively few people looking back and appreciating the championship we actually got.

I was expecting your Seahawks video to be one geared around praise for what they have recently mananged to pull off as a franchise. But I am actually glad in some respects that we are looking back at some fairly painful years (even though it triggers my childhood trauma, giving me flashbacks to the chair I hid behind after you know what happened). We need to remember that just a few years ago, the team was in the midst of a slow and painful decline spanning many seasons, kept on life support by Russ throwing across his body more times than one should need to. We had some questionable drafts, dubius trades, and downright sus FA signings. We had running backs getting hurt in droves, coaches getting flipped off, fan favorite HOF players injuring their necks and disappearing into the shadow realm, and a wildly inconsistant O-line. The 2022 season was the first time since 2014 where it felt like the team was really trending up, as far as the long-term future was concerned. The last couple of years has felt like a complete 180, and was truly a new era. Before that though, I aways felt a sense of sadness, grief for what never was. Yes, we won a lot of games, but it always seemed like we underachieved. The years spanning 2015 - 2021 can indeed be described as the fumbling of a dynasty, one excruciating trip to State Farm Statium at a time.

This is Matt Flynn slander. He played great against New England in 2010, played like a God in 2011. Came back to Green Bay when Rodgers was hurt in 2013 and led one of the most memorable comebacks against the Cowboys. Did just enough for us to still win the division in his absence. The biggest thing was that the Legion of Boom started to suffer too many injuries from their hard tackling. Particularly Kam Chancellor. That hit on the Denver receiver on their first play from scrimmage was devastating, every Bronco receiver developed a bad case of alligator arms (Hope my memory is right about the first play from scrimmage, the NFL has take down Super Bowl 48 Full Game....can't have their darling Peyton looking so bad, couldn't get a single first down for the first 1/3 of that game.🤣)

Russell checked to the pass play. That was the downfall. 1&Goal at rhe 2. Hand the ball to Beast mode 4 times. Pete Carroll would have never called a pass there, everyone knew it, and the pats couldnt stop him. However, Russell wanted the glory, and no one liked him after that. Simple as that.

Great video. I never realized that the worst offensive call in superbowl history was DIRECTLY after the superbowl win (thought there was a year or two between). I watched it live, not evening being a fan and there was ringing in my ear as if a grenade went off. 2nd and goal on the 1 and you throw an inside slant? But when you step back and look at it, Cam and the panthers who beat them in the playoffs the next year went to lose to the Broncos that the Seahawks blew out; potential 3 peat for the Hawks. RIP. I can definitely understand how deflating that loss was for the players.

i love this shit man. i've watched every video for a few months now since you were at 10-15k if im not mistaken, and out the gate you've got it down. the thumbnails, the edits, you know when to have your face in and when to have game clips or graphics in, equally great with off the top quick hitter videos and long essay style videos. fucking great content creator and you got a whole hell of a lot comin your way man. there's a lot of this in the nba community and as i drifted from basketball and fell back in love with football a few years ago i noticed a vacancy in this type of content and you really, really got it down, keep it up bro edit: looked back and i guess it's been more like a year and the channel was even in an earlier stage, guess it's easy to lose track when it's always felt like it's content everyone knows about😂 again keep it up man you got it

Seattle got lucky as hell in those two NFC Title Games. 2013 vs the 49ers: CLEAR Roughing the Punter on 4th down that should’ve extended the drive with the 49ers leading 17-13. On the ensuing drive by Seattle that NEVER should’ve existed in the first place Seattle gets stopped on third down and the play clock begins at 14:50. Somehow, Pete Carol is able to call a timeout at 13:52, 58 seconds later without any delay of game penalty despite the play clock being 40 seconds. So it’s a 4th and 7 instead of a 4th and 12. And that’s the play Seattle scored their go ahead TD on. Then Bowman forced a fumble and maintains control and then gets injured. To quite literally add insult to injury they overturn the fumble. Though that call didn’t nearly have the impact it could’ve because they fumbled the next play but the injury did. The second one against the Packers, the offense was DEAD and Green Bay led by at least 2 scores the entire game until the ball bounces off of Bostick’s helmet on the onside kick, and even then need a crazy 2 point conversion for it to go to OT because Rodgers takes the Packers down and they tie with a FG. Then they win the coin toss in OT and win.

A move that always puzzled me was that my Seahawks signed Blair Walsh after he missed the kick for Minnesota that advanced us in the playoffs in 2016. People don't talk much about how he single-handedly lost about 4 games in 2017 with his bad kicking, forcing us to miss the playoffs for the first time in the Russell Wilson era.

Few fail to realize that in 2012 in the divisional round, we could have beaten Atlanta if Pete Carroll didn't try and play cute in the last 40 seconds of the game. He called a time out last minute and and the officials didn't respond at first but Bryant kicked the field goal and missed. If Carroll just sat there a missed field goal would have be a win for the Seahawks and I would be confident that they could have beaten in 49ers at at Candelstick for the NFC Championship.

Lynch fumbled the ball from the 1 yard line during the NFC wildcard game against the Redskins the previous year. He was also tackled for a loss during the 2014 season game against the Broncos. And in the Super Bowl game in the first drive of the 3rd quarter Lynch was tackled for a loss on a 3rd and one forcing the Hawks to kick a field goal. There was NO GUARANTEE that Lynch would have scored and IF the pass play was better executed the Seahawks would have won the Super Bowl. Would have could have should have is just a stupid game.

My theory I’ve had as to why the Seahawks threw the ball on the 1 yard line in the Super Bowl was that Pete Carroll still had PTSD from the UT/USC championship game. All LenDale White needed was one yard to close the game for them, and he failed, giving Texas the chance to ultimately come back and win. Maybe I just like to think that as a UT fan, and you would think someone like Pete Carroll would be smart enough to realize that having Beast Mode as your RB is WAAAY different than having LenDale White, but that’s about the only reason I can think of as to why Pete Carroll and the Seahawks made that mind bogglingly stupid decision to pass.

The NFL fixing what rookies can make on their contract was one of the best decisions they ever made. The salaries were ballooning out of control and it caused strife amongst rookies and veterans... rookies making more than established players without even seeing the field was absurd.

Pete Carroll used to be on those lists of coaches who should have stayed in college. With the 2013 Seahawks and onwards, Pete removed himself from those lists. 😊 I remember in ESPN show where they had him on coaches who should have stayed in college football and not gone to the NFL. I think that show was produced in 2005, ten years later it was no longer true.
