He inspired a lot of kids to believe anyone could make it to the NBA and he was such a professional. All the people that made fun of his height didn't realize the impact he had on the league at the time. In the end, he has directly influenced many players and future players including Steph Curry. I grew up in Matthews NC where Muggsy still lives. My dad did some construction loans for him through his work and lots of people around town would run into him. Muggsy had a reputation of always being humble and always polite and smiling. Only time I ever saw him in person was while waiting at a shop getting my motorcycle serviced and a red Corvette convertible rolls up, and out pops Muggsy, some other guys yell at him "hey Muggsy, what you buying?!", and Muggsy just yells back "Naw, just getting something fixed!", and he was in and out of that shop quick as lightning, so even in his 50's Muggsy was walking as fast as some people run and just super spry, just an old random memory but still cool to see him in person outside of a Hornets game from my youth.

What a superhero, role model, exceptional human being, under appreciated but loved by fans and team mates throughout. The business behind most of the world loved sports tends to heavily influence them in a negative way, behind the scenes and most importantly IN SPITE of how dedicated and hard working some of these athletes are. What saddens me the most is that we, as fans and supporters of these teams, mainly due to their athletes obviously, unknowingly become pawns by fueling their cold and heartless business methods because we love the game, what it represents, the players, etc. Same with the NFL, and most if not all of these organizations. I truly wish there could be a revolutionary change to make these teams, games, and the whole culture behind them and us as audience, fans, do away with all of that, have it closely regulated maybe to protect first and foremost players such as “Mugsy”, and many others like him. I loved how he made Magic look like he was wearing lead filled Converses and then watch Magic's frown turn into a smile because it was Muggsy who just made him and the Defensive Great Michael Cooper look like they rarely ever did, like foos with their feet stuck in the mud. I will end my comment with 2 things, 1. Chick Hearn praised Muggsy (paraphrased): "Ladies & Gentlemen this young man (Bogues) may get attention for his being so short, but folks, don't be fooled, he's the real McCoy and will steal your heart just as quickly as he steals the ball and an assist or bucket are sure to follow just like the smart fans and the true fans follow Bogues". I can't believe I've never heard of such an amazing player till today! 5,3 and played in the NBA! I didn't even know that was possible. He seriously deserves a movie!

God bless Muggsy Bogues. It just shows no matter one's background or how they look. If you got the heart and desire do whatever you want to do and let nobody say you can't.

Time to enter Muggsy into the Basketball Hall of Fame. He never won an NBA-championship but, just like Charles Barkley, did leave an indelible mark on the game. One cannot discuss point guards in the NBA and not include Muggsy. One of our all time favorite players.

Thanks muggsy for all the amazing years you gave us! One of my top 5 favorite players of all time without a doubt. Even though my sport was football seeing what he did gave me confidence. Through my football career player as a lineman and only being 5'9" 210lbs. I was the smallest lineman on the field. But because of my work ethic I was one of the strongest and skillfully best players on the field.

great video! great story! some of the blurring patterns may have shifted. it helps around the court showing where to look, but with the vintage photos it's all over the place, idk tho

i watched a lot of NBA as a kid in the early 90s and i remember watching him play as a Hornet. It was amazing to watch him, he was like a pittbull terrier rushing the ball between giants.

Outstanding video. This was my favorite player growing up. I read books about his life, I watched the games, I owned his jersey. Even so there are things you mentioned in this video that I was not aware of.
