In my opinion, the standing double back is the single best example of how humanity is still evolving, even without new physical attributes. The way that the best gymnasts in the world a few decades ago wouldn't even consider it possible (at least, grass as opposed to any gym surface), and then now when literal self taught teenagers are landing it. The ability to get support to do basically anything means people are constantly pushing what was previously thought of as the best. We have people that grow up now living and breathing tricking for their whole lives, and using the accumulated knowledge of everyone before them.
@snakevenom49542 жыл бұрын
That's just from knowledge. Decades ago there was a powerlifter named Thomas Inch. He made the Inch Dumbbell to prove his strength. With one hand he raised the dumbell over his head and used his other hand to lift some other weights. To this day, Mark Henry is the only human to have every lifted the Inch dumbbel over his head. Even then he struggled a lot and had to put it down, which Thomas Inch did not do. He held it up for a good 20+ seconds. Not Henry's 5 seconds. And Mark Henry did not lift other weights with his other hand, just the Inch Dumbbell. Evolution takes thousands upon thousands of years. Not decades. Jesse Owens, who raced in the 1930's, would be within 0.1-0.2 seconds of Usain Bolt. Making him the second fastest human alive if you gave him the same technology and equipment as today's athletes have access to. Humans are evolving, but you aren't going to see night and day differences
@jewellui2 жыл бұрын
What has that got to do with evolution? Surely it’s just people discovering the limits of what we can do.

I'm not surprised the "chosen one" turned out to be a guy from Africa! I grew up in Cameroon. A lot of kids in Africa learn to tumble on their own with no professional training. They often learn on sand and they also spring off of tires. Over twenty years ago, I was a self-taught tumbler. There was no KZbin. I remember taping the Olympics on VHS and analyzing various combos in slow motion. I also recall secretly dragging my bed mattress to our backyard to pratice. None of my immediate local friends knew how to tumble but I had asked them to find someone who did. One day, a friend showed up with an expert tumbler who went to his school. Years later, when we moved to the US (my Mom's family is American), I was excited at the thought of doing gymnastics in high school. Sadly, we ended in a small town in Indiana with no gymastics program! A couple years later, I was off to college and gradually stopped training. At this point, I can only do back handsprings in my forties. I miss the days when I would backflip off of a wall or tumble on pavement!

Could be the perspective we’re getting from the camera. Phones can easily distort such depending on the model and lens (and judging by the shadow of the person recording, they’re definitely holding one). Even if there was a slight incline, though, he is still the only person to do it on solid ground (no sand, no dirt tilled to make the landing smoother, no ditch to provide a slight dip, etc.) while standing in one position. Not easy either way, so kudos to the guy.
