I think one of the coolest things about the universe too is that it's basically the ultimate look into the past...the oldest galaxy we've seen so far is almost 13.5 billion years old, so in reality since the light from that just recently came to us here, we are technically seeing that galaxy that far into the past. Some things we are seeing could also not even be there actually present day. It's crazy thinking about possible intelligent life somewhere out there looking at earth as well...just imagine it took the light from earth for example 70 million years to reach them. They would be seeing earth back when there were dinosaurs. It's in addition fun to imagine that perhaps what lies beyond the observable universe could be another whole entire different universe.

4:45 - We have known water was on the moon for a while, it’s just they found a bigger patch of ice then previously found. NASAs Artemis missions set to start in 2024 had planned on mining the ice and turning it into drinking water and hydrogen rocket fuel. We have studied the moon for long enough and collected and analyzed enough samples to know that life never existed on the moon. It’s basically impossible for life to or ever to have existed on the moon for a few reasons. 1.) it doesn’t and never had an atmosphere. Life as we know it cannot exist in a vacuum and the moon since it has no atmosphere is a vacuum. Also because it has no atmosphere the temperature on the moon varies greatly, when the sun shines on the moon it can be very hot and when the sun isn’t shining I can be very cold, to drastic of a change for life to exist as we know it. On Mars it is very possible life once existed there, same with Venus. Mars has evidence on the surface of liquid water once flowing on it (evidence of lake beds, rivers, and streams) and it has ice caps so it still has water in solid state. Venus possibly had water at some point but it no longer does because of the temperature and atmosphere of the planet. Mercury is believed to have ice in some craters that usually face away from the sun. Mercury like the moon doesn’t have an atmosphere and it’s unlikely life ever existed there.

What can really bake your mind is if you use the Kardashev scale, which is a measurement of a civilisation technological advances based on the amount of energy it is able to use. A theory proposed by Nikolai Kardashev in 1964. Type I: a civilisation able to harness all energy on it's planet. Type II: Able to harness all energy of its planetary system, for us the solar system. Type III: Able to harness all energy in its galaxy. There are theories about a Type IV and a Type V civilisation, but I wont get into that here. Earth is currently on 0,5-0,6 on the Kardashev scale. Type 0 meaning not able to harness any energy.

Just because there's water somewhere that doesn't mean there's automatically life there as well. Also it depends in what state the water is in and if there are hevy elements present, along with a source of energy. Because does things are required for chemistry to happen. (The diversity in elements and a good source of energy) there are a few alternatives to water but the chemical bonds are too unstable to allow complex chemistry to happen. Now that doesn't mean that complex chemistry can't happen. It means that it's much more difficult.

17:50, they have had videos and information like this since the 1970's. In 1980, there was a show on PBS called Cosmos hosted by the same Carl Sagan who they quoted in this video. Dr Sagan dropped a lot of knowledge like this. Before and after the Cosmos show there was the science show called Nova. Nova still runs on PBS to this day. When I was a kid in the 1970s and 1980's they actually taught this type of stuff in regular public school. I guess now not so much. But the knowledge has always been available for people who wanted to view it. Its just a matter of young minds being told that it matters to know it. Dr. Neil Degrasse Tyson who was mentored by Carl Sagan hosted his own version of the Cosmos show a few years back. You can still watch that online.

So no even if Aliens are out there they could be absolutely unaware of our existence.
@ajk12913 жыл бұрын
Going from what you guys said about what happens when you go outside of a galaxy, it’s the exact same as inside but it’s just open space. The only reason galaxies exist is because of the enormous black holes at the center of them that pull in all of the mass around it. Also, just another interesting fact I thought you should know, we have looked at many individual planets outside of our own solar system and we have found hundreds of planets that are capable of bearing life. But that doesn’t mean aliens because for a civilization to get to where ours is is very complicated and they would need to have most of the resources we do on their planet. So life is possible there but intelligent life is unlikely. And we don’t know for sure if there IS life there, we just know the planets have suitable conditions

If you enjoyed this video you should react to the timelapse of the life of the universe ( it is named something like this anyway) about 30 minutes long but it is mind-boggling how long the universe could last and how incredibly early we are in the universes potential lifespan. Edit: the name is timelapse of the universe: A journey to the end of time. By the way in answer to the question and something I'm sure you'll have realised after having watched the video, to keep thing simple and not go into time passage differences etc. Leaving the galaxy nothing would be different, you'd just not be in the galaxy. In space it is very nearly essentially a vacuum the vast majority of the galaxies and even the solar systems space is taken up by this vacuum. It's the same out beyond the galaxy. it's just gravity has clustered all those stars, planets, gas clouds, blackholes etc together into a structure we call a galaxy. Just a fun fact for you as the guy was saying something along the lines of "there's blackholes somewhere" when talking about the galaxy the centre of all galaxies are supermassive blackholes (ours, the Milky Ways is called Sagittarius A*). This is one of the main factors that generates the massive gravity needed to make a galaxy structure.

We have a name for it. This new galaxy will be called milkdromeda. Still even if we would still exist, we wouldnt see any difference, because scale is just too large
@dattallaudiophile2363 жыл бұрын
Outside our galaxy there's nothing... NOTHING. You would be travelling in a void. You'd be able to see the Andromeda galaxy and some of our satellite galaxies out there, tiny and incredibly far away and maybe, you'll see some intergalactic stars out there, they haven't discovered many and they are at the edge of our galaxy towards Andromeda.

People don't believe there is intelligent life out there because of a couple of theories. There are some theories that suggest that life is incredibly rare. It's all debatable of course.

Exactly what we think !!
@nathantaylor54003 жыл бұрын
Just a couple of late random thoughts. For alien life to exist in a state we will recognize, the area they come from must contain Phosphate. Our current calculations have it as a very rare element in the universe, though quite common here. Millions of species have lived and gone extinct on this world, yet only one species has ever shown the signs of intelligence that we use to classify higher life forms. So the universe is likely not conducive for life like us, capable of dreaming of traveling to the stars. Sad and not what I wanted to find. Add to this that a significant quantity of the elements found on Earth aren't created from basic supernovae, but more exotic types of star deaths and mergers. So if any of those elements (like radioactive isotopes) had a hand in our development, we have another hurdle for life to be prevalent in the universe. I hope that we are wrong in many of these theories, but the facts so far are hard to argue against.

Aliens never traveled here.. Imagine how much energy it would take to get from their planet to ours, it would take at least the energy of 4 suns to go and return just for look at us from the sky and going to their planet right away? Or doing like us humans, crashing their ships? Keeping in mind that they have obviously a way more advanced technology? Come on let's be realistic

The moon does not have an atmosphere meaning it is constantly bathed in sun and its very hot on the moon. But they found some water near the poles were the temperatures are lower. Now in what state of water was that i dont know, but life on the moon? very unlikely. Also now you probably have an idea of how immense is the universe. We are so developed and we struggle to get to the moon, just started plans to go to mars. Intergalactic traveling could take tens of thousands of years with our technology and even with better technology traveling doesn't improve much since we cant break the laws of physics. There is a big chance that even if there is higher intelligent life out there and have advance technology better than us, they may still be struggling with intergalactic traveling. So there's a good chance that yeah they don't know about us and if they do probably dont have the means to reach us or communicate with us.

Aliens can only know we are here if they are within ~120 light years as that is the furthest our radio transmissions have reached (radio started approx. 1900). Before that there was nothing leaving our planet that could be picked up by Aliens - probably doubtful. This is totally different to the question as to whether there are intelligent Aliens out there.
@DonterriusAileen3 жыл бұрын
Hm very interesting 🧐 tell us more ?
@DavidGigg3 жыл бұрын
@@DonterriusAileen For a alien race to discover there is intelligent life on Earth could only be picked up by Radio Telescopes, we have only been sending out infrared/radio wave into space since about 1900. That is how they would detect us They can't use a visual telescope and see the Earth as it is too far to pick up anything. We have been scanning for Intelligent life since the 1950's. Nearly all of the mapping you have seen n the size of the Universe has been done by radio astronomy

The problem with the moon having any life is more complicated than just having water. You also need a good atmosphere and temperatures that support livable water in large quantities (both of which the moon lacks).

It’s always baffled me how people think that there is no alien life out there, think of it like this In just the OBSERVABLE UNIVERSE (which by the way is about 150 sextillion, or 150 with 21 zeros, times smaller than the actual universe) contains roughly 10,000x more stars than what there are grains of sand on the entire planet So just try to imagine this for me, if you went to the beach and grabbed a handful of sand, you think about how many grains of sand are in just that one handful, and then think about how many handfuls of sand are on that beach, and then think about how many beaches there are in the world, how many handfuls of sand are in every desert on the planet and how many handfuls of sand are in the entirety of the ocean floor, then multiply that by 10,000 and then multiply THAT by 150,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, and THAT is roughly how many stars there are in the universe as a whole, with an average of 5-8 planets orbiting each star, with at least 1/2 possibly inhabitable planets out of those 5-8, so that’s 1 inhabitable planet per every star And people think that out of all of those numbers, we’re the only intelligent life out here? Ain’t no way
