📗 Rules & Info for event:
-First person to successfully defeat Brawly and Wattson in Emerald Kaizo is the winner of the race.
-This is NOT a Nuzlocke challenge. You are allowed to use any of the given Pokemon within your box.
-There is NO PERMADEATH. If your Pokémon faints, you can revive it and still use it. The only time that you aren't allowed to use a Pokémon is if it goes over the level cap.
-There is NO EXP GAIN for this, so the level caps for Brawly is 20 and Wattson is 29. We are also adding a Level Cap for the Route 110 Rival fight of 26 to make it slightly more difficult on your way to Wattson's gym. Just make sure you don't overlevel any of your Pokemon with Rare Candies LOL
-Each person will be given a stack of 99 Rare Candies to level up their Pokémon to avoid wasting time grinding
-Using emulator speed up is BANNED (only allowed during leveling with Rare Candies)
-Race should take ~3-4 hours to complete

Well, it's technically true. SmallAnt has very little nuzlocke experience, simply because he doesn't really do nuzlockes. Instead, he does over the top difficult and ingenious challenge runs, puzzles, and randomizers, which over the years resulted in a lot of knowledge about the games and mechanics. So while it's true he doesn't have much 'nuzlocke' experience, it absolutely doesn't surprise me that he won. While he was quite lucky against Wattson, he completely outplayed the rest on Brawly.

Yeah, it was also a bit weird because this statement isn't relevant as this is not a nuzlocke. This is a race so it makes sense that Smallant who is a speedrunner would win.

@@SadLittleTurkey That makes no sense, being a speedrunner doesn't give you better odds at winning a race if it's a game you've never speedran before. Besides, it's a race inside a notoriously difficult nuzlocke romhack, so having any nuzlocking experience is pretty relevant.

​@@Fr0zenEagle Nuzlocking is a specific ruleset that is not being applied here (aka no permadeath here) so no, nuzlocking experience is only useful in the sense that the person might have played more pokemon. The only part that matters is the difficulty aspect and the speed, which favors Smallant because he does the most challenge runs and has done speed runs of pokemon in general even if not this specific romhack. Lastly, being a speedrunner even if he hasn't speedrun this specific rom hack before (though he has done multiple races in pokemon which are similar in nature) does in fact give an advantage. It's a mentality thing. It's like when Jan tries to do non nuzlocke challenges, he often struggles with the fact that the goal isn't to reduce casualties. In this specific for instance, Smallant was more than the others, willing to quickly test ideas even if they were risky. Speedrunners focus on time management, nuzlocking is risk management.

Drxx and Pchal are good for those who want high level play. Jaiden and Alpharad are good for entertaining runs. However, SmallAnt is that sweet spot of both. Truly an undderrated nuzlocker.

Is Hitmontop actually random as an evolution in Emerald Kaizo? I haven’t researched into the rom but normally Hitmontop is evolved into when Tyrogue’s Atk/Def are even (I would know, I got one in Platinum as a kid)

2:46 and it's neutral to fighting and got stab fairy moves, so it's quite possibly the perfect counter to that gym, since you can just heal it using rest sleep talk. Why does Mawhile ever switch out? It's got the best typing in the game and decently high defence, and Intimidate.

Much of the community for Emerald Kaizo treats the level cap for Roxanne and Brawly both as one higher than they should be, since otherwise the early game is a massive slog which is far harder to get through.

How does the game decide which hidden power the AI oponnent has? And how does the creator code different IVs? I used G3T and PGE editor but never saw a way to change IVs.

In Emerald Kaizo, none of the NPC trainer pokemon have random IVs. Most NPC trainer Pokemon have perfect 31 IVs in every stat. However, some pokemon might have different IVs, set by the creator of the game manually. In the case of HP Grass, the IVs in HP and Special Attack are set to 30 instead of 31.

@@DWargs No, it was changed in the game codes. Every HP type move was included separatedly, so every Pokémon can get 31 IVs in every stat without changing the HP type of them. You can see this in the EK Docs.
