Herri Batasuna (HB, literally 'Popular Unity' in Basque) was a Spanish political coalition that emerged in 1978 and present in the autonomous community of Basque Country and the autonomous region of Navarra. It defined itself as left "nationalist" ('patriot' in Basque) and sought independence and socialism for Euskal Herria. It was registered as a political party in 1986.
He disappeared refounded in 2001 in the new political party Batasuna, which spent most of its members; while the critical current Aralar, in favor of one of the three papers (Aralar, Piztu and Arragoa) March 2 that rejected violence of ETA, decided to found his own political party.
