Hey man, no hate. I agree that PvP in SoD is pretty trash, but your suggestions both fly in the face of the vanilla PvP experience and would serve to completely undermine vanilla BGs and honor rank. 1. No diminishing returns on CC is a staple of Vanilla WoW PvP. That said, the buff you want already exists, from PvP trinket.Not good enough? Stick to playing a non-vanilla version of the game. Not trying to be harsh, but Vanilla WoW's PvP was primarily based around CC/glass cannon playstyles; which granted those who have put in the time/effort/luck to get good gear the unparalleled satisfaction of deleting casuals. Is this fun for the casual/new player? No. But it did/does serve as the stick, prodding players to chase the carrot (better gear). 2. Balancing abilities around PvP is only possible if you make skill damage in PvP fixed (via ignoring dmg bonuses from gear, which is responsible for turning players into insta killers). But this would completely undermine BGs and honor, as it removes any incentive to progress your character in PvP, and considering how quickly even the best PvP gear is made irrelevant by PvE raid gear, normalizing damage in PvP would all but kill PvP. Personally, I think SoD's incursions/open world PvP focus is the primary culprit for the horrible experience most are having in PvP on SoD. Also the fundamental shift in the manner in which players are engaging in open world PvP has gone from "gentlemanly" warfare where players would engage in 1v1/group vs group PvP to entire raid groups camping popular quest givers to snipe/camp individual players. However, this is an experience those of us who roll on PvP servers consciously accept the risk of. Does it piss me off and make me not want to play days at a time after 40 sweaty incels are willing to spend a collective 80 hours ruining 2 hours of my gameplay? Sure. But there's not an effective means of deterring players from such without negatively impacting the experience on non-abusive PvP groups. Like the simplest fix would be splitting the honor gain across the raid group for each kill and rounding that number down to the nearest whole number (thus when 40 people kill someone only worth 32 honor, they get 0 honor gain). But this would have negative knock-on effects that reverberate through other forms of group PvP.

CC immunity after one single CC usage is just bad. Would completely destroy the flow and value of CC altogether in a game mode where its already less valuable because of how much damage we do...

There is only one problem, they did not do what classic players wanted. We wanted updated Talents and Skills. With this it would have been easy to balance the game. But they just added this extra "talent" System on the old unbalanced Talents. Lazy as f... and as you can see useless as f.

The game is based on a system called Diminishing returns which means as you get cc'd by the same school of cc it lasts lower amounts of time. This is prevalent and important to how the game functions the buff would destroy that system and wouldn't work.

besides SoD already being not balanced, if they change how CC works, classes with a lot of inbuilt CC need to get something else in return, and that "new button" needs to compete with what they had before. yes sure it's annoying to get 1min stunnlocked by a rogue with ful cd's, perma feared by a warlock or combat resetted by a mage. but you could use a lap, phys immunity potions, skull of impending doom, engineering items, potions, first aid etc. there is an option in classic to counterplay it and i'm sorry to say, just because people dont think that's a good solution, that's how it was in classic and that's what we got. if they want to iterate on it, go ahead, but it's not basic math. the balance is just very tipped off by new abilities. like SL warlock with meta is unkillable for almost any class. SL warlock was the best PvP class back in the days for obv reasons. or priest having dispersion on top of their solid kit, rogues getting a 2 combo generator for 40 energy which also does more damage than any other generator, pala's oneclapping you in 1 stunn, shamies running around with double your HP and same dmg + having insta heals. it's not just "nerf dmg numbers and game is fine". it's way more complex. Yes, the DEVS made it that complex, but tbf SoD was kinda seen as a Sandbox mode. It surely seems that they didnt learn anything from other expansions, but that's on them. PvP scaling is a good idea tho, and they've been testing that. biggest problem in PvP when they were testing were healers. cuz they just heal people full in 2 globals. sry for the long wall of text, but in the end all you can do is vote with your wallet. and yes "you're only 1 guy". any revolution starts with a small group of people.

Not changing how cc works per say just throwing an aura up after a cc finishes for 2-5 seconds

The thought have having 2 different sets of damage -- one side of pvp and one side for pve, for ALL spells and abilities, I think is a genuinely good idea. That way, the dev team can split their focus and go "okay in the pve world this class is doing waaayyy too much dmg lets fix that" and it would not effect the pvp side of things at all, because the ability is fine for PVP

Ever since the extremely popular Ascension WoW private server introduced that system I thought it was genious. You have your regular spell tooltip and on the bottom it says: "Deals 80% damage in pvp" for example. Very easy to balance between PvE and PvP. You can buff and nerf spells independently.

I agree. PVE and PVP should work differently, very simple rotation for pvp and probably some abilities not even possible against other players. As a shaman I get very frustrated with all the stunlocks and silences in the game, definitely would love to see them to be cut down, as they just take away the ability to play the game.

couldn't agree more about a different rotation for pvp I am just hoping they do something because just adding a % reduction to all damage or healing just feels bad

@@BigChubs burst damage is the only thing they have though. You could counter it with some kind of defensive ability.

Look at mages: high mobility, freeze, slow, silence, immunity, and high dmg. The arsenal some classes bring to PvP is just too insane. Should be cut down and made simpler imo.

My opinion: If you don't like classic wow then don't try to change it, don't play it and just let the people who enjoy classic wow enjoy it. I hate just the idea of classic wow pvp, as a WOTLK andy my worst nightmare is rogue/mage or mage/priest because I don't get to play my character for literally almost 30 seconds at a time when I'm sitting in an unavoidable cc chain. I couldn't imagine playing classic wow where being CCd like this this is like just a normal part of the game and not something you only get subjected to when you're vs a specific team composition. With that said, I'm not gonna go play classic and ask the game to change for me because I like WOTLK pvp more. I'm just gonna keep playing Wrath.

That's all good but the whole point of sod is changes and keeping the classic feel an easy way to balance 1 shot classes is just to balance the abilities in pvp scenarios

Nice. Glad you enjoy pvp I unfortunately do not and so do other people you can easily tell by not finding any healers in any bgs and holy paladin healers are like the worst healing class in sod for pvp lol

I really dont think an ability that can be used once every 5 minutes should be considered as immunity just like the pvp trinket you can what use it twice a bg?

Yeah thats fair lol another thing they could possibly do like with a rouge's sap is when the rouge gets farther than 20m away it dispells instantly
