I just don't understand why plugin developers are still trying to pull this subscription crap when they've had almost a whole ass decade to observe how that's been working out for other VST companies. Spoilers for anyone who's been living on the moon: people don't want to pay monthly fees for audio plugins. Stop trying to make plugin subscriptions happen. It's not going to happen.

Alternative theory: the sequence of events that unfolded was carefully masterminded in advance and everything went exactly according to plan. All modeled after the Bitwig Spectral Suite incident. First a bit of hype, then the disappointment that generates outrage and with it lots of attention, then redemption by changing course. Gigachad level marketing. (just kidding of course, unless…)

Best part is. It’s just a freakin synth like any other. Not saying it doesn’t have unique properties but if you know a bit of sound design you should know that if you already have serum, phaseplant ect there is no real need for this. If you have a mustang do you need a Camero. Not sure if they planned it but they would have less press without the controversy

You speak a funny language that we don't know in Europe. Alpha, Beta, Sigma? Sounds like a management course. Before I consider buying a product I tend to look at pictures, or preferably videos of the CEO, the team behind him/her, the history of the company etc. You don't want to spend hard earned money on a company that goes bust in a few years from now. You need product support. When looking at the CEO of Minimal Audio I see a bald-faced li*r. His pathetic excuses aren't real excuses, but damage control. As to the pricing model: it's what some professionals want because their subscription is tax-deductable and renting keeps the startup cost low. But for amateurs it's an expensive model. Abusing KZbinrs, most of which are amateurs, to advertise a product aimed at professionals, and making them pay for it through a subscription they didn't know about, is downright criminal.

@@ElianaDAngelo right. Exactly. i have been cleaning up my plug in folders lately too. I only reach for like one main/same do it all synth usually. Same with audio processors like compressors. I wasted a lot of money on redundent stuff but i guess its part of the learning process. I think at some point you get better ar knowing what you need or want or actually use. All in all not impressed by company decisions and this offering from minimal audio.

ok...the synth ...Current ....is wack 15 dollars or 10 a month .Phase Plant is 9.99 ..has a lot more bells and whistles ...I signed up for a 30 day free trial ... hoping it would be nice and Im not impressed ...maybe in the future it could be better...so they gave apologies for a product thats not that good in the first place compared to what its competition is SERUM ,PHASE PLANT.

Or it was all planned? Creating a massive buzz of publicity (no such thing as bad publicity), and then supposedly apologize right away, and offer the synth the way they always supposed to do. I can imagine many people would say "ok fair enough, at this price it does seem reasonable", and giving them "we care about the community" badge at the same time. If you think of it, risky move but it could pay off. I can be totally wrong, but in the end all that counts is the better deal people are getting.

This ALMOST reminds me of what Antares did years ago when they removed Auto Tune Evo and changed their auto tune product to a Subscription based system. Which i could be wrong, but i think they at least have the option to full out buy it which makes it less of subscription based, but it is rather expensive, especially if you pay monthly of like 25-40$ for Unlimited which is a forever repeating monthly Payment, which honestly just kinda rubs me the wrong way. I bought a pitch correction plugin that basically does the same thing just a little less detailed, and i bought the full lisence for it for like less then 40$..
