Tomoriru was my love live oshi. I have the same disease. It’s really hard to watch her old Setsuna performances knowing how hard they are on our joints. However I love Tomoriru’s current music and her candle live is so incredibly beautiful.

I love Kusunoki and her chronic illness rep SO much. It's beyond important and SO reassuring to see how many people are made aware of the pain of living with a lifelong condition is. Firefly's story definitely touched me the most, the whole idea of escaping into a dream where you can control your body freely like you never would be in the real world- that stuff hit me hard. I'm really glad that a character like Firefly is popular, and that people will realize that what Firefly deals with isn't some magical anime disease, but directly parallels the struggles many disabled ppl have in real life. I didn’t know about her but when her first symptoms were described I was like, oh, sounds like what EDS does to me. So to hear it was EDS like… damn. I was diagnosed in July after tearing a cartilage that even the doctor was like “….Idk how you did this, this injury makes no sense” and a lifelong history of joint pain and my hips popping out of their socket. EDS sucks, but honestly is really inspiring seeing stories like this

I normally don’t comment, but I would like to thank you for making a video about my oshi and giving an introduction of her to other people. I actually heard her name first when I just went on internet and saw her role the ill-fated Märchen Mädchen, but it wouldn’t be until GGO (which tbf fair was a few months later) that I really got to know her and her singing for GGO S1 ending, and it was very good for shinjin seiyuu. That was why when I saw her name as Setsuna’s seiyuu I had very high for her, something she delivered so well it doomed my opinion on LL later on. Hamidashimoto as a banger that gave very good first impression and definitely one of the reason I still follows her this closely, and so did how much I enjoy Yoisaki Kanade, both in terms of story, personality, and unit (25ji) songs, and Tomori’s voice as Kanade is so good I can’t but like her (and proceeded to spend a lot of money on her live when I finally in Japan). When she was diagnosed with her health issue, I was worry of course, but since she seem to able to maintains her works and career mostly as normal, I was able to be assured she is in good enough shape, and seeing her live performance really assured my in this (she actually moving much more that I thought she will or need to). One thing that did change was definitely Setsuna, but by November 2022, my opinion on Nijigasaki (mostly on music) was soured by then, to put in simply, Nijigasaki’s discography on average, isn’t good enough when compared to Project Sekai, Idolmaster Shiny Colors or even Morfonica, and Nijigasaki will never able to bring the best out of it seiyuu, especially Tomori with how Setsuna’s discography being almost the same (even if it works) for four songs, and the fifth being the one I hate it so much I only listened to it like once. And with she appeared to performed one song (that I hate) at Njigasaki 4th live, I just started to think “with her being this busy and having health problem, maybe it would be best if she stepped down so that she can have more time for herself”, which doesn’t help when she had no believe that Nijigasaki will use Tomori’s full potential and she barely appeared in any of it programs. So when her diagnosed came out, I was really worried about her health, but had no reaction to her leaving Nijgasaki, as by then I was fine as long she can produced her song, voicing Kanade, and being happy and healthy. You also mentioned about Tomori’s negative emotions, which I do agree it’s real and coexist with her positive emotion. Ironically, this is the reason I always see her as Kanade not Setsuna, since Tomori, if you ever listened to her MC, is somewhat a negative person, her positive side for me is at least a combination between she need to be positive publicly, she is enjoying what she doing, and her positive side is able to outweigh her negative side as least normally. Another thing for her is that she is actually quite open about herself, and those negative lyrics is her way of venting about her past experience and showing herself to her fans, in the process humanizing herself. Since you talked about Fuuzen no Tomoshibi, I decided to checked the full translation of the songs again, and I would say Fuuzen no Tomoshibi the song is not that negative, probably because Tomori herself might not want the EP to be too negative, especially when the other three songs are pretty negative, but in difference ways in each songs.

Holy crap yeah that part about negativity resonates so much! When I was hyperfixated on Kanade, I often rewatched side stories and all event stories she had had. It was mostly out of kanamafu dynamics but I also loved to investigate the character. And I totally feel what you mean. Kanade is very preserved and firm character itself. However during her key stories she really seems like she isn't like that. While Mafuyu states that she wants to be by side of people that are in pain,I hope in life Tomori as well has someone like that, and I don't mind if it's Rui Tanabe herself. I mean, I bet there should be a lot of personal support from seiyuus! And it's so funny how Kanade in the game seems almost comical with her struggles to be physically active, and sega really do a great job at amusing with this sometimes. Although in life she is not Kanade after all right? What Kanade has is simply weak muscled due to working all the time + sitting is influencing it. Even so, she doesn't show symptoms of any diseases, I mean, it would be mentioned after all right? But proseka is also a game for kids, and despite having depressive motifs, this game is mostly concentrated on mental health issues than physical, at least that's in the main line of plot. Some side characters might be mentioned to have any physical disease e.g. that one Akito focus where that one solo singer had a friend who couldn't move after a car crash, and couldn't chase his dream in beating the Rad weekend

Kanade feels more relatable that ever huh... I love this video, I just realized how little I knew about Tomori despite I have been her fan since 2022😢 The way you put through how she actually felt is kinda crushing... And! I also listened to her song "Saitei da, boku wa", it was the only song in the album but I clicked so fast and that's what I got. It's indeed cruel. I could keep whining but I'd hate it. Even so, I have an uncurable yet illness that affects my physical movements too and I'm prohibited to do any heavy activities.. which is.. Really frustrating. I love doing mind work mostly but I always wanted to dance for fun or be able to compete in sport activities.. I still could try it and paradoxally these things can support my muscles, but there is a border where it's safe and where it becomes worse:( Through your report, you made me her love and sympathize even more. It's hard to fight every day, so it's a bit of a overgeneralization on your part in the ending. But, as desperate or stubborn I am, I am just not in position to give up yet, despite it hurts. Just because... it would hurt even more if I do nothing and give up just now, while there is still a small chance of being able to do what I want to. Otherwise, it would lose its meaning

You did miss a major ongoing role she's cast in: the MC of Heaven Burns Red (which only recently got a global release), Ruka Kayamori. Tomoriru won the voice actor award category in Dengeki Game Award 2022 for this particular role. And Jun Maeda (creator of Angel Beats, Clannad, and of course the man behind Heaven Burns Red's story), had actually complimented her (albeit without her knowing) on her ability to grasp and answer to his direction quickly (this was mentioned in a Heaven Burns Radio episode by Ruka's vocal - Xai). In HBR, Maeda is famous among the VAs for 'okawari time' (named by Aoi Koga) for almost always demanding a notch-up and repeated takes even for the veteran VAs. So this is really a strong testament to her ability and adaptability as a VA.

So she attended the audition for the singing one, so thats why she ended up on rhythm games (love live, pjsk, etc), a virtual singer-ish group (15shoujo), and also got to sing for some anime outro songs whilst being the main character from the same anime (see "Vexations of a Shut-in Vampire" and "NEMURENAI", which is the ED of the said anime) In all seriousness, i discovered her through PJSK, and only finding out she was Setsuna from Love Live, which actually had unlocked my childhood memories cause i remember watching that with my dad, Never got into rhythm game yet

Last year I got sick from one day to another I couldn't move my fingers and couldn't walk, I was diagnosed with myelitis, I was told that I wouldn't be able of doing rapid movement sports for a while and had to be careful with my back, I can't be in a hot room or sweat a lot because it would reactivate, I was 13, when I got sick, like Tomori I put on a bright face like making jokes saying "Haha I got a whole month of vacations" or "A month without homework yayy", but I was sad, it was jealous, me sitting there doing nothing while I watched my classmates and friends doing sports or dancing I wanted to go with them, wanted to play wanted to dance but I couldn't I don't say it out loud but I'm sad, I'm so sad, I sometimes ask myself why me? why did I have to get sick why let me suffer with this, why? Slowly I got started to get better, now I'm 15 and I still can't do rapid movemovement sports but I can dance a little! I participated on my school dance festival holding a sign with our class dance name! I was happy that I could participate, also I celebrated my quinceañero! I thought that I wouldn't be able to celebrate it due to my condition and because went to the ER the week prior to it... But! it was nothing too serious they dispatched me the same day I went, still somedays I get frustrated because my hand won't cooperate or I'm too tired to do my homework because my bones hurt, but I'm learning to live with it. Thanks to everyone reading this little rant of mine, please excuse any grammar errors as english isn't my first language, enjoy your day! and if you're going through something tough, I hope you can get over it and get better.

I kind of found it. Strange because it seems like her character in school Idol club was after season 1 in season 2. Her character was kind of more pushed aside and they added a bunch more characters in season 2.
