Sam I took sleeping pills at age 19. I chased 2 bottles down with alcohol. I barely survived the ordeal. I am glad you survived and blessed us all with your beautiful voice on Star Search. I tuned in each week just to see you. I still to this day own your debut album. I still play and listen to it. Your were beautiful inside and out then and you still are.

I knew that back then the World was a very hostile place to non-heterosexuals. The West dominated by two right-wing leaders of right wing parties: Thatcher & Regan held hands over "the pond." Despite the rising tide of haters assisted in by the onslaught of HIV/AIDS, unique young Sam Harris, needed to do what he had to do so to be who he become. Yet against that tide of bigotry in that most "decadent decade," some of the most talented gay song writers, performers and artists emerged that decade and the sexy sensational Sam Harris, just a couple of years younger would have stolen my gay heart if it had not already, as I came to find, gone to another man.
