There are some things that video is best for - demonstrating tension is one such thing! Thank you - very helpful.

This video came at the perfect time: I am just starting my first larger tapestry and have been unsure about the tension for it. I'll adjust it tighter and see what happens! Thank you for explaining and giving some insights on common practice.

I recently began to delve into tapestry. I am loving it and finding it to be a positive challenge. This video was helpful as I have been questioning the tightness of my warp. I tend toward the way too tight warp on my notch loom but.... getting better with each weaving. PS I have your book on tapestry. It has been a huge help.

I am glad the book has been helpful as well as this video! Enjoy the weaving and let yourself play with the tension a bit... what works best for one person is not the right answer for someone else.

Sorry about that! I've asked for French and Spanish translations, but I have no power over the publishing industry. If you know of a French publisher who might like to purchase the book's translation rights, let my publisher Storey know!

This is perfect timing, I have been doing one of your courses which is excellent by the way but I have been troubled by over tension I think, now I have your permission to reduce the tension I am off to play again. I am using a Mirrix saffron loom and a Glimakra tapestry loom. Thank you.

Thank you for all your videos and your wonderful book! I have a question for you. I like to use my small Mirrix looms horizontally due to a combination of wearing varifocal glasses and neck problems. I rest the top of the loom on a table and the bottom on my lap and this works well. However I would like to get the biggest mirrix loom and am concern that it would be too heavy to rest on my lap. Are you aware of a set up that allows to one to use the big mirrix horizontally easily please? Thank you.

A lot of people use Mirrix looms on box easels, but if you're talking about the 48 inch Mirrix, no way that will work. That loom is huge and I don't think will work at all on anything but a table or the floor. I've never tried that loom and can't vouch for it. If you're talking about any Mirrix up to about the 22 inch one, a box easel is a great solution. They work well with the Little Guy (I recommend the Tall guy version of this loom) or the Big Sister. I have more information in my online classes and can help further there! Introduction to Tapestry Weaving is a good place to start.

How does the tension of the warp affect the product? Will something end up the same if woven on a loose warp as a a tight warp? I'm just starting into weaving.

The warp tension does have some effect on the weaving. Mostly it is just hard to weave on a loose warp! So no, it won't end up the same if the warp is tight or loose. Enjoy tapestry weaving! I explore these questions with personal feedback in my online classes as well.

I am a beginner, how can I avoid the warp strings showing through my weaving? Thank you

That is almost always a weft tension problem. It could also mean your weft is too thick for your sett. I have a KZbin video about weft tension to give you a better idea of what I mean there. I cover these issues in my beginning online classes extensively!
