A very informative video Some more points to add - In some cases timezone is not just a country specific but timezone can also be mandated by a state or territory legislation. For example in Mainland Australia, there are three timezones. NSW, VIC, SA & ACT observe DST in summers. But WA, QLD do not have DST. And DST gets very confusing on the border of NSW and QLD; where NSW part of the town (Tweed Heads) observe DST and QLD part (Coolangatta) of town do not observe DST. And the clock on your smart phone will toggle between +1hr or -1hr on one side of the road vs another side of the road.
