This is a mirror of what's happening in WWE and its LA Knight that's causing it. He's doing nothing wrong. He's a way bigger star than even his fans are aware he can be, and he has the total package. The actual issue is he seems to have the personality type that does his job well and is very confident but is also shy. When these things combine people think you're arrogant and start trying to 'humble you'. They get paranoid about your intentions, and you can't play politics because you technically don't need it since you have real talent and know your worth. Politically minded ppl hate these types because they can't 'read you' and assume the worst. LA has said several times he just does his job and sticks to himself. Unfortunately he has to start being a politician and he has to help politically minded people understand he's not a threat. I know this is oddly specific but I ended a chain of getting fired and buried at jobs I was doing well at by realizing this for myself and now I'm ok.

I completely forgot he was Breaker's first match in nXt even though I was intently focused on the early weeks of 2.0. I remember liking him vs Waller too, a double turn. But then you read up on his Wikpedia and his early stuff consists of ~6 months with Grimes/DiBiase (fine midcard introduction), losing to Grayson even though he is the veteran and won't be around as long, then being shuffled into the "Black and Gold" War Games team. Random title shots and feuds where he seems like he is just mic fodder and a punchline. Then leaves and what, he's been on the main roster a year? I totally blanked that Dupri was over a year ago and he has only been LA Knight for about 10 months. I feel like you finally get some meat on the bone when he's allowed to cut promos on Bray but even that could have been a disaster if not for his work. The dude turns anything he gets into gold and is begging for a true one-on-one feud that people will remember. I'm sitting here the last few days cracking up at his NWA promo and the Drew promos in this video. He just looks like a star on Smackdown but it's really nothing new, he wasted his 30s lol and has been this good for a long time. I started watching Impact in the last days of the Global Force era, and while there was a lot of boring stuff (seriously, what was up with having Grado around forever?), Eli was always worth watching. I think they appreciated what he could do to some extent, but also took him for granted.
@Nick_C1997 Жыл бұрын
When Eli lost his voice and wasn’t allowed to talk, I initially thought it might have been because he needed to save his voice so he could recover from some sort of throat surgery, but I found nothing backing my theory, so it was just TNA shutting up their best talker 🤦🏻

I don't think he was wasted. Right before he left impact I thought his work was great. Storylines too. The thing is aew came and scooped up so much talent from impact. If impact could have kept Kross, Scarlett, pentagon, cage, Tessa(if she didn't screw herself), Eli, and kept adding on to their roster I truly believe impact would be in a huge position right now.

I really liked Eli Drake. I think all of TNA fans recognised he should have been at the top of the card. What was wrong with the bookers at that time? I remember not being a fan of the rising at all, especially Galloway until that promo and realising he was way better than the others. He should have immediately taken Galloway's spot and been pushed to the moon. He was brilliant.
@arostwocents10 ай бұрын
Galloway had the look but he was boring. It took so long for TNA to push him and even then he wasn't actually having the show based around him.
@arostwocents10 ай бұрын
Grado wasn't a guy who needed to win matches. He was like Rockstar Spud. Eli Drake had the charisma and mic skills that he actually could have been a major new star but they kept pushing Eddie Edwards. Who was booking at this time? It's enough to make you miss Russo
@arostwocents10 ай бұрын
The lost voice thing would have worked for a week or two but for some reason they thought long term storytelling was making a short angle last for months. I can definitely see why he was bitter at this run now you go through what happened. Truly awful booking of a guy on the level of anyone they have ever had.

He actually does have a great point regarding women competing with men. Especially with how Tessa's push to the moon ended up for the company. It was a ridiculous push and she paid them back by leaving immediately over some crap when Drake actually could have been the main star, given he was loyal through terrible nonsense with Grado etc

I did payed attention when he was world champion in TNA, I actually made my dream matches (in my head) with him in TNA wrestling Angle, Galloway, EC3, Alberto el patrón, and so on. Those mostly didn't happened, but it was entertaining to watch Impact videos about his segments and matches. This was the time I knew him and who he was, so I really hoped he went very far from there, he became sort of my favorites in TNA.
