All the details in this lesson make it much easier to navigate your way through Giant Steps and craft some awesome walking lines :-)

It's amazing how much content you have in this one video. It'll take me years to digest this for sure, but listening to how beautifully you play over these changes, it's an inspiration, even if it is terrifying...You're the ambassador for great teaching concepts.

I'm a piano Nooby who started 4 months ago at 65. I had zero musical knowledge, but my Mom bought a piano when she retired and played for another 20 years. So I've got some learning to do. I'm noodling around with 2 5 1 recently, so even though you went fast, I wasn't lost. I'll definitely come back to this and use it since I haven't heard a description so detailed yet so basic in all my searching. Bravo. BTW I worked as a Chiropractor, but suffered a major shoulder injury early in my career. And so learned not to work as the traditional back cracking Chiropractor. And I developed many techniques which people appreciated. And I developed shoulder techniques, and by extension into the arms and hands. I have a video coming soon on my famous back exercises that take 30 seconds, but need to be done every day for 30 seconds. And then there are exercises, stretches and self-treatments for the shoulders, hands and wrists. Especially good for the little finger, which pianists are obsessed about. Bassists? I always thought they should be felt and not heard, LOL. It should be ready in a couple weeks. Stay tuned.

Giant Steps is a giant challenge and has eluded me so far. This video has motivated me to try to learn this song again. You have to set goals to grow! Thank you for the inspiration.

I've been trying to learn to produce my own music and have traditionally done guitar and drums most of my life. I had a bass I didn't really care for(thunderbird) which I am replacing with a precision-jazz Aria Detroit style hybrid bass soon. I just found your videos randomly, probably because I like some Coltrane and jazzfunk. The chords you play on this video are beautiful, remind me of some of the melancholy stuff you hear in Brazilian music. I'm checking out your videos explaining some of the basics, concepts, and vocabulary because I really want to understand music better than I do now(I can read a bit, I have sharp intuitive/listening talents). Thank you for making these resources, future musicians stand on the shoulders of giants such as yourself.

Nice lesson Joe. You've inspired me to write out some more lines of my own (as if I didn't have enough to be getting on with already :)

This is a great lesson Joe - the title made me stop because I'd forgotten the chord sequence. It came back to me quickly though & there's a wealth of new ideas here - Cheers!
