Thank you for the pattern! I used it for the front of a hat using 64 stitches on a circular needle. Purl 6, cable pattern for 20 stitches, purl 6 and then knit the rest. If you want the pattern in the back, just do the same 6 purl/20 cable/knit/6 purl pattern. Looks great!

very well explained. I have no trouble doing small cables, as this is, however I was hoping with 20 stitch cable knitting, it was for large cables. I have a pattern I am trying where the pattern has you putting 12 stitches on your cable needle. Picking up those 12 cable stitches is hard because pulling it over 12 stitches is so tight. Was hoping you had some tips!

Stockinette and reverse stockinette stitches curl so wouldn't it be better if your side stitches were worked in garter stitch? They would lay flatter and look the same as reverse stockinette on the front. Then you can use that beautiful piece for a headband that lies flat.

Thank you so much for mentioning this. I had frogged so many times before seeing your comment. So much easier to CO 30, k across * Row 1: K5, P20, K5, Row 2: K across repeat * (row 1 & row 2 until you have 7 rows). It does make a nice ribbed edge on both sides for a headband....lov it....thanks again.

I had to favorite this; it's ingenious. Can this cable be done in the round? Would I put all the cable stitches on one needle then all of my reverse stitches on the others? Using DPN's btw.

@PleasantSeas
@PleasantSeas 9 жыл бұрын
+Agnes Edwards You need to pick how many edge stitches you want for your scarf. You need 20 for the cable by it self, so maybe 5 sts on either side. 30 sts in total would probably work really nice.

I keep trying this pattern and no matter what I do to help it, it keeps curling and folding...I always get wayyyyyy into the piece before the problem becomes apparent, then I have to take it apart. Any thoughts as to what I'm doing wrong? I love this pattern and would adore mastering it. Marian
@PleasantSeas
@PleasantSeas 10 жыл бұрын
It is because the background stitches are reverse stockinette and stockinette curls. You can add a border to the sides of either, seed stitch, moss stitch or garter stitch to prevent that or turn your reverse stockinette into garter stitch. Hope that helps you out.

Stockinette stitch is when you knit 1 row then purl 1 row. It's the smooth side, not the bumpy side. You can watch this video, I explain the difference. Stockinette Stitch | How To Knit & Purl
