I nearly built a 7 for my first car in the late 70s. I have always thought it was both innovative and retro. A very nice size for 3D printing and clean design. Your narration and video were great. I think I will try this before a 1/10 scale.

I like it. Yes, I'll build one. What other motors did You test? I ask because I think I see an opportunity for a cheaper ESC and motor that I know work really hard in their intended application. PS: I agree, the black rear wheelarches make it.

You make it look so easy, I have a 3D printer and really want to get into building rc cars but I don't know what to buy and where to start. Any suggestions for how to get started? A begginers guide even? Thanks for the content regardless :)

Thank you. My advice would be to make sure you can print really well, then hit up thingiverse (or my github...) and print off something small and easy (there are lots of servo powered mini RC tanks out there, which are GREAT fun). Once you've managed that, then you can progress on to the more complex models. If you've got any questions, feel free to hit me up for advice.

Awesome design! Few questions (maybe you can add responses to your github): 1) For the O-Rings, you mention 10 x 22mm Orings, Is the 22mm inner or outer diameter. 2) There seem to be some sort of bearings installed in the wheels. Can you provide details on what specifications they are?

Thank you. Always happy to answer questions. 1) the o-ring I used were 22mm ID by 3mm 2) the front wheels run on bearings that are 3mmID, 8mm OD and 4mm thick - it's worth finding decent ones of these - i bought mine from hobbyking, the cheap ones from amazon can have WAY too much play in them If you have access to Fusion 360, I'd recommend looking at the CAD, you can pick out any measurements of random parts from that - there's even a hidden bonus feature in there - a holder that screws onto the motor clamp and allows you to attach a FPV camera. Let me know if you make this, I'd love to see what you do.

Thank you! Thats what I needed and i've started printing the parts and ordering the misc electronics, etc. Will definitely update on the results. I've got F360 but it's a little hard to navigate so playing with that as well (Will look for the FPV clamp as we do have some mini cams we've used in other builds!)

@@roTechnic Well we finally got all the parts and started putting it together and realized the github doesn't include the bonnet (unless I am missing something obvious). Could you upload that? Also what is the length of the main axle and intermediate gear shaft? We bought the 2mm steel rod but it's not clear what lengths we should cut them to. Thanks!

Well, I'm a muppet aren't I! I've added the bonnet as a separate STL. For the axles, it really depends on exactly what size your printer prints everything at, what i did was slide the rod into place, with the wheels, gears etc and then cut it to length. you'll want to make sure that the wheels don't bind with the sides of the chassis, so leave a bit of slack there. when you are attaching the gears and wheels, you may find they slip on the shaft (again, depending on tolerances etc) if they do then you may need to rough up that part of the axle with sandpaper and add a drop of superglue. I had this problem on an early prototype and that fixed it, but the one I assembled on video worked fine without it
