I'm impressed, I've watched some of your other videos. Not many people show you how to put things back, along with handy pointers about potential trouble spots. Its not always as simple as reversing the process. thanks.

That handle over the plastic holding down the carpet probably comes out, or at least loosens up with the bolts holding it down so you don't have to bend the plastic. Looks like there are some caps you have to lift to access those. Next time you go to Home Depot check out their brand of ratchets, the smooth rounded handle ones hurt the hands less if you really have to pull or push on them, and the mechanism is tighter and better my 3/8" ratchet from there handled more than my 1/2" Craftsman. I'm sure other companies have good wrenches too but, I can say I've put mine through some hell. Breaker bars if you start getting into suspension bolts and head bolts. 6 point sockets will save you from rounded of bolts as the car ages.

If it were mine I would replace the bolts with Dzus Quarter turn fasteners with or without folding wing handles. If it’s good enough for a aircraft it good enough for a Porsche.

So one could adhere some Dynamat or other sound proofing material on the back of the carpet pads, eh? I know that sounds like sacrilege, but I sure would prefer a bit less engine noise.

Just remove front wheel wells and or front bumper. Radiators are easy to access. But if you do have a leak it’s most likely your water pump

I don't think there's been a mid-engined Porsche street car with engine compartment access this good since... the 550 Spyder. Maybe the 904... Been a long time, anyhow. Would have been nice if they'd somehow incorporated quick-release fasteners, but I'm not complaining! I was considering a Boxster, but it looks like the Cayman is the one to get!

On my 2007 Cayman (base) there is an additional plastic pin at the centre top of the front carpet, that holds the carpet in place. This plastic pin is behind the metal clip that is seen in the video. I used a straight screwdriver to pop the pin up; then and only then was I able to slide the carpet out as demonstrated in this video.

Just an FYI. If you drop a nut, torx, bolt etc. into the engine bay, like me, try banging on the Underbody Shield. I heard, then saw my bit bouncing about and was able to fish it out with a telescopic magnet in a minute or two.

Such a fucked up design by Porsche!!! Cram the engine in with 0 to very little accessibility which turns into multiple hrs of extra labor to get things repaired. A clam shell design like on the Lotus elise is way better, but it's an after market kit. Rather work on my 911, and both my 924S, than this car! Working on a clam shell design for the Boxster.

Good video. I was noticing the gear select cables running under the console and then up over the engine. What is the other cable next to the gear select cables? I've never owned a Porsche before coming but I must say I have fallen in love with the Cayman. I have noticed that normal maintenance appears to be easier than on many domestic and Japanese cars. I definitely see one in my not so distant future.
@SummitLife

Not quite sure what the other cable is. Never investigated! But honestly this car has been super easy to work on so far. Just yesterday I pulled both bumpers, all lights, mirrors, handles, and roof rails off the car in about 1.5 hours!! (prepping to wrap the car)
