I have a small 110 stick welder I’m going to be trying this later this week. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for this. I do a lot of electro etching in saltwater using a DC welder. I would only use 5 amps in lift tig mode for an etch that size but I do it in a deep tray and immerse the plate in the solution. You are the only other person that I have seen use a welder. It's interesting that you got a dark mark with the vinegar, I get a bright silver mark. I'm gonna try vinegar in my tank and see what happens.

My pleasure hopefully it helped. Yeah if using paper towel instead of a piece of cloth I use less amps. After polishing the blade, it is definitely not as dark as using salt water.

Can you do it with a cheap flux core welder ?
@refinersforge17812 жыл бұрын
Might be able to if you can use the gun somehow as you electrode.
@refinersforge17812 жыл бұрын
@@MikeHoncho0811 yeah that would probably work..the only problem I see is that the vinegar or salt water used to etch is corrosive and might mess up the gun over time.

I had a thought maybe I could use a peace of all thread and put a couple nuts on the end of that instead of using my tip

@@jasonvanover6716 sounds like a good idea to me... I think 🤔😁

A handy way to hold on that little piece of cloth is with a rubber band. You can also use a small piece of paper towel instead of the cloth.
