How to act around trams | Tip #2

Don't stay close to the rail, the tram might catch you and you will fall under it. Don't walk or even run right behind or in front of tram, you are very hard to see. Don't walk between trams! Those few seconds of waiting won't kill you, but the tram might.

I think that the driver didn't even see the kid, otherwise he would brake hardly. Even I didn't see him, I only had a weird feeling that something went into the track in front of me, I looked over the panel when the kid was already standing there.

This reminds me of 2 times on our operation. First this guy decided to block the crossing as the gates were going down (private RoW with lights and gates) on a blind corner and we didn’t have working sanders so stopping was difficult. A second time on a different part of the blind ROW we had people going into our mile long tunnel. And we almost hit them they were 20 feet into this S shaped tunnel

Best from which point of view? If you mean best for me, I would probably choose Skoda 15T, because it has a lot of power even fully loaded, it is 100% low floor so people board and unboard very fast compared to old Tatra T3 trams which has 2 steps and not a single low floor. Also the new tram has speed limiter so I don't really need to watch my max speed as I can set it up, even downhill, it also has cruise control. Eight cameras for me to see inside and outside of tram, very good view from drivers windows. A lot of braking power. The old T3 trams are good as it is a very simple machine, almost nothing to brake and if it does brake, you can still go in most situations. Another negative for old trams is that you have one pantograph on each tram, so you have to watch more carefully when crossing sections on trolley. Another great tram is Tatra KT8D5R.N2P because it is both way tram. When there are some repairs on the track, we use them because they have doors on both sides and can drive both directions.
