It's important to call out this only works for instruments native to FL. Slide notes do not work for 3rd party plugins like Serum or NI Kontakt or anything else. So for pitch bending those instruments, you typically need to use the Channel Pitch knob on the top right of the plugin near the digits box of where it's mapped on the mixer, and you have to automate that. An alternative is to convert 3rd party instruments into a sample-based DirectWave instrument.
@ahreuwu10 ай бұрын
There's a free VST called BENDY which you can use as a workaround. Works great with Vital. You need to use one copy of that vst for each midi channel you'd want to bend, so it's not as seamless as using color-coded midi on a single pattern, but it works.

I was hoping to finally learn it is possible after all to really draw a curve in a sort of overlay directly within the midi, but this is still a good reminder to make more use of this slide method as opposed to the porta/mono and time knob in the instrument's menu. Fun bonus tip: Consider freq shifting. Whether done subtly in simultaneous conjunction with pitch slides or used as an obvious effect, it's so cool. There's other methods too, Image Line Harmor's prism is a great example, it lets you move individual partials according to the drawn mask and formula you choose. You can also set it's ''phaser'' to freq mode to move partials rather than filter them, especially cool cause it's an infinitely spinning knob. (There's also a phaser mask if you want it to affect different partials differently) You can also program detuned unison synths so the detune gets strongest in the middle of your slide or just before reaching the target or whatever, very cool effect too. In passing tones and especially slides, dissonance tends not to stand out to us as a bad thing, so you can get a little wilder with the timbre. Another cool one is resonators/vocoders/tonal EQ etc. set to highlight consonances, some EQ's even let you control a freq's octaves alongside it so you can reasonably do harmonic series filter stuff. (You can fade this in during slides) The idea here is to instead filter out dissonant stuff in your slides, it'll basically slide through a mask and the partials become more audible as they go through consonant freqs. (You may wanna do some volume automation/compression and EQ to make stuff audible but not too resonant) You can do SO much to make very interesting sounding slides, always fun to sit down and add details like this when the moment is right. Usually I'm in the flow writing, then when that passes I do this, and it's so rewarding to hear it come to life that much more.
