My vocal coach always tells me to change things in the song like this! But you have to understand that as beginner singers, NONE OF US would ever think to do that. We always want to sing it like the original since we love it. I understand the need for it however, there needs to be more tutorials like this 👍
@dcngn_4 жыл бұрын
I think once you reach a certain level, you will automatically crave being able to change up things a bit. It's very satisfying for both singer and listener. Sometimes it's just a vibe that you wanna get across, sometimes it's that creative twist that makes people feel good or it can be a way to create anticipation, etc. So, while coaches shouldn't force you to learn anything you don't want, I think it's important for a coach to open a students eyes to things they haven't noticed or considered yet. After all, this enables you more versatility in defining your own style.

I love this! I've been singing since Whitney Houston's second album and NOBODY ever explained that you may not hit the note the first time...but it doesn't make you a bad singer. I always thought the others were natural born talents. I'm just learning that everybody is still learning and getting better.

Absolutely! With the right techniques and practice, anyone can see improvement in their ability. My mantra is singing is 90% mental and 10% talent!

I find it so much easier to at least *try* to ad-lib and get more comfortable ad-libbing, when singing to an instrumental version of a song! I dont always get it right or enjoy what I come up with on the spot BUT i am taking more risks at least lol that's what it's all about really! Being comfortable with and really understanding the chords of the song, and basically being adventurous within those boundaries.

i’ve sorta grown up listening to ad libing bc my dad leads worship at my church sometimes and every time he ad libs. i’ve actually done it before and i think it comes natural to me bc i’ve been around it my whole life. i think it’s harder to do it in public though bc you’re scared that it might sound bad or people won’t like it

I sometimes do my own runs or Ad libs when I'm covering a song! I've learned to imulate (?) the singers, and by doing so, I'm learning to open my throats and chest to try to sing the songs perfectly hitting those notes! Some notes I (squeak/whistle/falsetto) because I haven't learned to open up to those certain notes yet! I love to sing at karaoke but I get so nervous around crowds! I can sing well when I look at the screen of words and ignore the crowd! My most go to songs are rock songs that stay in the opera registry that I can sing with an open throats and chest!

Tara.... I love your videos. Being totally blind, your descriptions of how you talk about what you are doing and describing certain stands of posture, or anything that could be visual, I can’t begin to tell you how benificial it is , as you are making your videos accessible to those who can’t see. You do the hole “do it like this” and actually then go on to mention the part of the body you are meant to focus on verbally spoken and not just leave it at “LIke this” :) and I appreciate it so much. There are also a few things I would love to talk to you about that is personal to me and my singing, I would rather do this personally directly, is there any way I could do that? Keep uploading and thank you for sharing such mind stimulating knowledge. Thank you for just being you beautifully raw and real and god bless. Ps: I wish you were in Australia. Love from Brisbane Queensland.

When an artist ad libs in a recorded song and I sing that song I mimic that singer. What I want to know is does that singer mimic him/herself when they sing that song live or do they do a different ad lib?
@Tarasimonstudios4 жыл бұрын
Honestly, everyone mimics someone at some point. Imitation is the largest form of flattery. But after singers imitate and learn different styles, they must find THEIR voice!! So must you my dear. Spend more time singing to instrumentals, how YOU would sing the song, getting familiar with YOUR vibe. This is how you truly discover your unique voice! 😊

Hey Tara, when you descend between 6:06 and 6:07, there is always this crack? tiny change of inflection? at the start of each note. How do I practice doing that like you do? I actually have the habit of always trying to do that, but I end up sounding like a howling dog, kinda of whiny.. Does it matter that I'm a male singer? Or does it matter in what register I sing? Is my voice just not agile enough? Oh no, I think.. I need a vocal coach.

I'm definitely not a professional singer but I have done it before and it is indeed kinda hard to not make it sound messy. Usually, I try do simple adlibs, with more sustained notes and legatos making it easier for the other singers to sing on top of it (or vice-versa if that makes sense).
