Thanks for this video! I saw the film on a whim and did not have any backround information on it. After watching this video I'll have to give the film another watch. I might even read that book containing those short stories.

I have had real problems with Murakami - the devices he uses, like repetition, to slow the action - drive me nuts! So I was going on word-of-mouth impressions of the movie....& I’m so very glad that I gave it a try... I don’t know how it happened but, starting with Cochi’s (spelling?) tears in the back of the car, I became mesmerised; it’s less of a feeling, & more of an imprint that continues to come to mind...I don’t think that I could describe the film to another person: I just know that from watching images of people going about their everydayness - without drama, without straining for meaning - changed my perspective on so many things; it’s like a book that reads YOU! Thanks for your review! From Brighton 🌈 UK, take care &. be well y’all! 🙏🏽🌹🙏🏻

I didn’t feel the runtime (3 hours) was earned. By the end of the film all the characters sounded like they spoke in one voice (the screenwriter and director). Even someone speaking in sign language and a young actor that had zero depth till an out of character 3 minute dialogue towards the end of the film.
