Great video, but where did you get power for the back up camera
@MrTimdtoolman18 жыл бұрын
Great, great job guys. That super Pro touch putting the mic in the factory location, when I had a radio installed a few years ago they stuck it in the easiest place for them to put it and not necessarily the best place for it but they were somewhat of a jackleg shop anyway. I was just in a hurry at the time and wanted it done "now" Haha. live and learn. I ended up pulling the radio out not long after that anyway.
@FiveStarCarStereoInc8 жыл бұрын
Tim datoolman yeah we do that by request only, sometimes it does not work out so good. You can get a hollow tin can sound sometimes. We are going to edit that part into a standalone video. There were a couple of steps we cut for time and people always ask about doing this.
@StacyStockton7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this video. I used it step by step to install an AVH-4200NEX and a backup camera in a Wrangler JKU tonight. I would have been lost, so I appreciate it very much. One question I do have is, what do you do with the open space between the window controls and the bottom of the head unit when the faceplate is removed? I have a big open gap on the bottom when I remove the faceplate. I'm worried about it when I have the top off, the faceplate off, and it gets caught out in a rainstorm. It only happened one time last summer, but it happens.

Thanks for doing this as it is perfect for my situation. I have a 2015 Jeep Wrangler and will soon be changing the radio to the 4200nex and adding a backup camera. I was thinking about using the idatalink maestro though and was wondering why you chose the pac brand instead?
@FiveStarCarStereoInc8 жыл бұрын
Brett M to start we use and sell both. I personally like the PAC because it works, it just works. Not saying the maestro does not, but.... I know people love the tire pressure and gauges for about 5 minutes after we put them in but then they never use them again. The maestro idea is definitely the future, but not everyone needs it. Some people just want it to work.
@brettm6398 жыл бұрын
Five Star Car Stereo Ok thanks that makes sense. Can you give me the correct model number I would need for my 2015 Wrangler with the factory Alpine system please. Also what other parts I will need to avoid any surprises.
@FiveStarCarStereoInc8 жыл бұрын
Brett M you will need the RP4-chy11 harness, the USB-gm1 USB adapter. The Sat-1 if you are keeping XM( also the sxv300). The baa23 antenna adapter. The Metra 95-6511 dash kit.
@DavidsOutdoors7 жыл бұрын
Five Star Car Stereo how does the baa23 adapter work with this install. is it a female part thar connects to the vehicles antenna cable (that part needs a male to go into the HU)?
@FiveStarCarStereoInc7 жыл бұрын
David Ordaz you want the baa22 to plug into the radio, not the 23
@slyslug886 жыл бұрын

My question The harness has a blue but there is no wire on the factory connector side that the blue wire connects to. can't get the amp to turn on so no sound... any idea how to connect to the amp? says i have the can bus model... 2010 JK with factory amp, but i also have a five wire connector that went to the back of the factory radio

I have a 2007 Jeep Liberty that I plan on installing a Pioneer AVH 1300NEX in. Would this mount work for my Liberty?
@steve.newcomb8 жыл бұрын
Great video. I just did almost the same install on my jeep only I used a different backup camera and I used a maestro interface. With the 4200nex "im assuming that's the radio" how do you find a happy medium so that you can turn the radio to full volume without distortion. Also do they make a harness that would allow me to use the factory subwoofer if I was to do a five channel amp and new components?
@FiveStarCarStereoInc8 жыл бұрын
Steve Newcomb yes we used the 4200, the volume in these with the factory amp is hard to work with. There is no harness that I have found yet, but a 5 channel amp can power up the factory sub just fine. Bypassing the the factory amp and adding new speakers is totally worth doing.
@steve.newcomb8 жыл бұрын
Five Star Car Stereo I've Been out of things for so long I don't even know what's good. Last time I looked around JL audio had some nice five channels. I just don't wanna spend money on a new sub and I don't know how well the factory sub will sound with new speakers and an amp. Have you done this before?
@FiveStarCarStereoInc8 жыл бұрын
Steve Newcomb yes, quite regularly. Check out the Alpine PDR-v75 and the Hertz Energy line of speakers. Pioneer and Kicker makes an upgrade 8" if needed

Steve Newcomb hey Steve I did this install but my Antenna reception is horrible. what did you use?

You guys make the best videos. Wish you were here in Atlanta so I can give you my install business. I'm about to install the 4200nex and I'm also adding a backup camera. You covered the wire exposed to the outside in "temflex." is that correct? I'm looking to do the same, but I'm not sure I got that correct, as Google and Amazon return electrical tape in the results only. Also, I assume you sealed with regular electrical tape? Thanks in advance for your help.

I will be doing this exact setup, I have a question regarding the Sub-Woofer at the rear of my 2014 JEEP JKU. Is there an issue with this? I've been to a few car stereo shops and some say I need to get an aftermarket amp. But I'm thinking their just trying to sell more STUFF. Thoughts?
@FiveStarCarStereoInc8 жыл бұрын
Mark Aquiningoc no the factory amp will play and sound the exact same way it dose now. The main complaint is you can only use the new radios EQ. You can't use time connection, sub level or fader. The factory amp only excepts a right and left input.

I just put in a 4201NEX into my 2018 JK manual trans. Everything works beautifully except the camera does not turn on when I put it in reverse. I can turn the camera on manually from the head unit but not when in reverse. I used the Maestro Rr and ch1 harness. Maestro manual says I have to tap into the grey back up light wire on the passenger side... why doesn't the purple/white on the harness work?

The PAC USB adapter that you use, is that just for this vehicle or it's universal? I installed this HU on my 9th gen accord and hid the factory HU behind the dash. With that being said, can I use that PAC USB adapter and connect it to the Pioneer 4200? My factory USB plug is still there but, it's pretty much useless... Thanks!

With the camera cabling going through the hole covered by a grommet, how did you replace the grommet?
@FiveStarCarStereoInc8 жыл бұрын
nchia cut a hole though the grommet and ran the wire though the hole before we ran it into the door. Once we were done on the out side we slid the grommet into place. It snapped into place and we filled it with 3m strip caulk.

Five Star Car Stereo Do you "seal" the hole around the wires? If so, with what?
