I love that pattern. My question is, is there a way you can tighten up the fringe to the top part of the earring? I made some earrings and the fringe is starting to come apart from the top part, so I need to tighten it back up. Any suggestions?
@beadaholique
@beadaholique 9 ай бұрын
You can tighten it by running a new thread through the fringe (don't take out the old), just run a new thread where ever it needs tightening up. This should work.

Would love to see a video on adding thread or how to add a couple of rows or so of brick stitch onto a component and then fringe added to that to make earrings as it seems a popular way of doing it, but I can’t find any one single clear video on doing that and am having to take bits of information from a pile of different videos from different people on how to do it and I’m just not sure if it’s the only or best way to do it.

Love the earring and your channel. I am very new to beading. Only 2 months. Can you give me some tips on Fringe and over all issues when your a new beader. Fringe this length I don’t have any gaps. But if its over 50 beads. I had to start over. I am good with the triangle part of brick stitch. I only usedCzech seeds primary. I add 2 beads in my brick stitch so when you add in fringe I see the loops on the ladder stitch row. Also adding in fringe no problems but I see my thread some times. I always added 2 instead of one.How would you position your earring so you don’t have so many tangles when your working on the fringe. When you are creating a pattern how do you now what’s beads in order to color. Thank you kindly! Jenny

Hi Jenny, welcome to the hobby! So the biggest thing we see new beaders struggle with is thread tension. This can be especially difficult in fringe beading and it could be causing some gaps and bunching in your longer fringe pieces. Unfortunately proper tension's also difficult for us to teach because it doesn't show up on camera well. The important thing is to keep the tension of your thread consistent. As you practice you'll develop a better feeling for how taut your thread is and you'll be able to adjust how you're pulling it in order to help keep it consistent. Regarding the tangles, I recommend waxing your thread with beeswax, it acts as conditioner and helps avoid tangles: beadaholique.com/products/beadsmith-beeswax-thread-strengthening-conditioner-for-beads-quilting-crafting As far as color goes, I'm not sure I'm reading your question right but if you're wondering how to decide what colors to include in a pattern and how we choose what colors to pair together, that's mostly a creative process. There are books and videos on color theory for designers and those can give you some basic rules of thumb, but a lot of it comes from taking note of what colors you already like, and then getting creative with those through trial and error. We often make small test swatches of beadwork to see if a color combination works before we make a whole pattern. Think of it as beading for research reasons. We also have a collection of seed bead palettes with color combo hand picked by our designers to go well together. These are a great way to start building up your bead collection: beadaholique.com/collections/seed-beads?_=pf&pf_t_product_type=0-Product-Type%3AExclusive%20Beadaholique%20Color%20Palettes

@@beadaholique Will do. I decided to try using Fire-line for the whole project. I don’t have gaps and it’s hanging fine. I realized tension is very important. I bought this thread at Micheals and it looks just like the thread in your video. But, it frayed, separated and when I added thread you could see the fuzzy parts in between the beads. I will be buying thread from your site instead so I know what I am getting. I finished the earring in a shorter time. I added some bugle beads and crystals in the middle. FYI. I watched the Challenge Yesterday on Facebook and was rooting for you guy’s! I do better with the plastic thread. Kind Regards, Jenny :)
@beadaholique
@beadaholique 3 жыл бұрын
@@jennyleigh9071 That's a good solution. FireLine can make it much easier to maintain good tension with because it doesn't stretch like nylon (It doesn't separate either, yikes!). Once you have more practice nylon thread will be worth another look for fringe, because it has that wonderful flexibility that can help fringe wave, but FireLine is never a bad thing to gain experience with. We do probably 80% of our beading work with FireLine, it's foundational. Thanks for rooting for us in the Challenge, Sarah had a lot of fun doing that!
