Does the 12mic work with the UFX I? I think not but I can't remember where I read that.

Sure, you can connect the 12mic to the first gen UFX via 2x ADAT cables.

Why AVB instead of Dante (not being snarky... I really want to know)?

There is also a Dante version of this Device. Called 12Mic - D

AVB has certain benefits over Dante and vice Versa. We have a different video that covers this

Really wish RME would upgrade the UFX interface to Thunderbolt 3. Love Total Mix as I own a RME Fireface UFX. When I purchased a new Workstation which has Thunderbolt 3, I had to look at UA Apollo units, not what I wanted but the are Thunderbolt 3. I've seen RME's videos saying USB is fast enough but what is so hard about putting Thunderbolt 3 in an RME interface? You're RME the best made interface company ever and it shouldn't be a problem. Please update the RME to Thunderbolt 3. Thank you and have a nice day. Stay safe and may God bless 🙏✝️🙏

LOL well I ordered a thunderbolt 2 to 3 adaptor, simple dongle, ahead of the arrival of my FFUFX+ and hey it isn't as bad as my old FW MOTU going from FW400 to FW800 to Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 :D

Thunderbolt was on the previous UFX+, but in tests the RTL was nearly identical between Thunderbolt and USB3. See the SOS review for the UFX+. With RMEs USB drivers, there's no practical benefit to using Thunderbolt. I understand completely why RME dropped the Thunderbolt port.

If you're still wondering why no Thunderbolt, it's mostly because Intel is the owner of the Thunderbolt technology, and it seems like there have been 1. Supply issues with their chips, 2. Long term support issues for those chips, and 3. Some jank in terms of how manufacturers (especially in laptops) implement the thunderbolt ports. Thunderbolt is fundamentally a PCIe x4 connection in principle. USB technically eventually terminates to the CPU or chipset via PCIe too, but USB controllers are much older and their behavior is extremely well understood in the industry. It's ubiquitous and basically never has the kinds of issues Thunderbolt has. Those are the primary reasons

We posted a video explaining Thunderbolt vs USB 2 and USB 3. After watching I think you will likely come to the conclusion that USB3 will suffice

Why not AVB - just one cat cable - that's what I went for
@SynthaxInc2 жыл бұрын
You can do AVB; however, the MIDI over MADI technology does not exist in AVB so you would have to still run a second set of cables to utilize the MIDI remote. We also presented this more from a Recording Studio Perspective where MADI is more cost effective...but you are correct AVB is perfectly fine for this as well but would require an AVB switch. That being said, if you do this via AVB you would use the web GUI interface in 3 separate TABs on your browser

Since ufx+ is not available now I have two questions regarding ufx II which can operate with 30 ins and 30 outs only. 1. Can I record 30 microphones with ufx II somehow? Or only 20 with 4 built in preamps plus 16 via two adat? 2. What is the best preamp extension for ufx II from rme now? Two octamics xtc or octamic II? I understand that 12 mic will „leave” 4 unused channels from adats. Thanks

I would suggest the UFX III for this via MADI or you could go with a MADIface USB and use the mic preamps as described in the video

Hi, Questions how can I add the Rme Babyface Pro Fs to the Rme Fireface 802? Is it even possible to us the babyface as the main interface and use the fireface for the ins/outs or should I just sell both of them and get the Rme Fireface 802 Fs?
@SynthaxInc5 ай бұрын
I would use the fireface as the interface and connect your babyface via ADAT
@hectorfernandez7435 ай бұрын
@@SynthaxInc thank you so much for replying 🙏 last questions what would that do if I do what you are telling me? Is it to get more I/O or to use it as the main ad/da converter?
@SynthaxInc5 ай бұрын
@@hectorfernandez743 You add 4x more AD/DA, with two Mic/Instrument preamps and the headphone out of the Babyface to the Fireface.
