I see no instructions on adding rails, no rails in material section, no sizing. How to deal with scrap wood where side rails are connected?

One tip from my build. A $15 roll of bungie cord material from home depot is a lot easier to deal with than the wrap.

The videos don't show applying the finish side rails. The rail frames required a 1/4" side lap on the inside and outside of the frame member to make the splice. Should I have to add 1/4 " furring along the entire outside of the frame rail to provide a uniform surface to glue the finish side rails to?

I’m wondering this too, it looks like there’s strips on each edge overlapping the top and bottom

How do you manage possible humidity inside the board? Encapsulating wood can be tricky.

I'm curious what the dimensions of the strips are. I'm waiting for delivery on my San Marco frame kit and have been watching a ton of videos about various builds. My main question is what thickness people are using for their strips. 1/4" seems to be common but then I worry that may be too thin. The board in the video looks more like 1/2 or even 5/8" but it's difficult to tell. It would be great if Jarvis would make some videos with measurements etc showing.

I just ordered a kit from Jarvis, but I did build another brand last winter, I ripped up my cedar at 7/8' wide by 5/16" thick, left me lots of meat to plane it down, don't forget you add quite a bit of strength back when you mat and glass it

The bulkheads will add lots of support, don't worry about .25" being too thin, chief.

Is there a reason for using polyurethane instead of a class d4 pva glue (used in saunas and outside)? Just wondering since the pu takes 4-8 times longer to dry/cure. And yes, I said I won't start until November but I'll probably put some other projects aside and start earlier. 😀😀

What type of polyurethane glue do you use? Also what kind of wood and what size strips do you use? Love your videos.

I understand you need extra thicker strips to finish plane after gluing, so what dimensions are your strips and do you put the 1/8" radius on the strips, as required in canoe construction.

Bead and cove is not required. A little proud of 1/4" is ideal pre planning.

When do you add the outer frame? I don't see it in the instruction manual or on your precious video. Forgive me, this is my first build.

This is my first build as well, are you asking about the frame side rails or the side rails themselves? I have attached all frame parts together, will be putting on bottom deck, flip over remove rocker tabs, Add foam blocks for the inserts, put on top deck, then add 2 1/4" strips on the sides that will glue to the side frame rails. This will give me 1/2" of material for shaping the rails, the 1/4" material should be thin enough to form the curve from nose to tail without needing to steam it too much.

Hi there! Im about to start a build and have a question. I am toying with the idea of applying a Shou Sugi Ban inspired finishing to the strips/board (this video describres the finshing: kzbin.info/www/bejne/an7NaGx-h52IoMk) I want to burnit, brush it and then stain it with a nice color. I will mock it up before committing to it, but do you think this is an appropriate thing to try on a board? Any issues you might foresee with using this technique? tips or recommendations?

@@jackwignall9333 Hey Jack! no I haven't received anything back. I just started my build this weekend, only managed to build a workbench and cut out the frame with a CNC. I have a lot of questions too!! it's interesting, in this comments section, Jarvis has only responded to the comments saying "hey great video", but they don't answer any of the people who actually have questions about the build...🤨 And you tried emailing through their website? I would be interested to find out what challenges you are having, if you want to correspond with me...
