Dude. THE best video on this I’ve seen. NOBODY I ever watched ever mentioned the rim gain thing. And the mono cable thing to the splitters. Duhhh. I’ve been using stereo cables and wondering why I occasionally get the sound from the other drum. 🤦🏼‍♂️ Thank you!!

Best explanation out there about this issue. On my Roland I was splitting my tom 1 to use a splash (CY-5) with the rim, and it simply did not work. Now I know I should have split Tom 1 and 2. Thanks a lot for the great tips!

I bought the kind of splitter that doubles the signal and duplicated the ride cymbal for the left hand as well as the right. I also duplicated my hihat and used an old rack mounted hihat, both controlled with the left foot. Works like a charm.

Thx for a great video. I just bought used e-drums and it has added pads and symbals, but don't quite understand this splitting thing. Now I do! Thanks dude!

I have an Efnote 3x kit which has 4 toms. I was thinking to split Tom 1 and use its rim as Tom 4 head, and connect a 2-zone cymbal into the Tom 4 input. Do you see a problem with this setup? I don't think I'll ever hit Tom 1 and Tom 4 at the same time.

Very interesting and informative... When you split a two zone into two separate drums, is there no way to turn off crosstalk control, so they will in fact both sound at the same time?

awesome video, I see you have 2 modules there...can you do a video on how to chain 2 modules together via midi?

I recorded this video when I was testing out a used module for resale, but I didn't have them linked to play. however, Luke at @TheeDrumWorkshop is amazing and has some great videos about using midi for eDrums. You might start with this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gInJo6SgoLuWgck

Subscribed! I added 2 CY-5 (those small cymbals) with a splitter on my TD-17 to be a splash and a china, works well, see my covers channel, but one of the pads requires harder hits, seems I need to adjust the rim gain as you suggested

An additional question (I have a td-17 and some lemon cymbals I haven't set up yet... ) can you duplicate a cymbal by attaching using a trs to dual trs splitter, so that you can have a crash on both sides of the set? Thanks for the video and thanks in advance for your response!

Hello! I have a TD11KV and tried to split "Tom 1" cable to use two tom pads. But, in one of the pads, I only get signal/sound when hitting the rim area. I can select different sounds for the head and rim hits, but don´t know how to make both pads work in the head area. Can you help me with this, please??

I believe you can use a stereo cable with a mono input. You dont necessarily have to buy mono cables if you already have stereo.
@myfavoritedrumgear
@myfavoritedrumgear 7 ай бұрын
That’s correct. The mono cables are usually a little cheaper, but use what you have and it’ll work once the signal has been split. Thanks for watching.

I'm currently using an Alesis Strike module with an A2E conversion kit (Jobeky internal triggers on snare & toms, and diy low volume cymbal triggers on 3 crashes - VH-10 for Hi-hats and a Jobeky triple zone ride). But I just ordered the Audiofront Edrumin8 (the 10 is back-ordered and I couldn't wait!) and plan to trigger into my laptop loaded with Superior Drummer3 moving forward. My concern is, will the eDrumin8 provide enough inputs for my current setup, assuming I split 3 of the inputs to mono to accommodate the kick, toms and crashes (ride, snare and hats will require stereo inputs for the dual triggers)? Anybody have experience trying this?
@myfavoritedrumgear

I don’t have experience with the edrumins, but I’m not sure if you’ll be ok. If you split your 2 rack Toms to, say, input 1, your snare to 2, HH to 3, crashes to 4,5,6, then you’re covered there. But that leaves 2 questions: 1) can the edrumin split a bass drum? I’m guessing yes, because it’s just an input transmitter, but Roland modules and others do not allow the bass input to receive 2 signals. if so, input 7 splits bass drum and floor Tom. Now you have the last input for a ride cymbal, but a 3 zone ride needs 2 inputs. I don’t know offhand how the edrumin handles 3 zone rides, but it sounds like you’re 1 input short. If you play a 4 piece kit or have single zone cymbals, you might be ok. I hope this helps. If anyone else is more familiar with the edrumin, please help a fellow drummer out!

And now that I’m thinking more, I think you’ll need an additional input for your HH foot control.
@thedustyhaze

@@myfavoritedrumgear Thank you for the quick reply! The eDrumin does have two additional foot controller inputs in the back (one for HH, and one for expression) I don't think it has the same bass drum limitations as the Roland since all 8 front panel inputs are TRS. The trigger software that comes with it has a unique feature that allows for a 3 zone ride to use just one input using "bell sense" which I have yet to try with my Jobeky ride, but fingers crossed. It seems like a great unit. You should review it on your channel! So, assuming I don't have any of the weird crosstalk issues you mention in your video, 8 TRS inputs should be enough for my setup.

You mentioned that splitting cables can be problematic. Would using a dual zone tom input with a cymbal cause similar issues bc of the “switch/button” trigger vs “button/button”?
@myfavoritedrumgear
@myfavoritedrumgear 7 ай бұрын
Yes. Splitting toms and cymbals leads to weird outcomes. If you have the gear and some free time, go ahead and split the cable and see what kind of results you get. Comment here and let me know what you experience. Thanks for watching!

@@myfavoritedrumgear Reporting back! Essentially, assigning my rims to cymbals works fine-- just turns them into single-zone, non-chokeable cymbal (I've used this for a China and a splash, so didn't really miss any functionality)!

I was doing 2 modules for a while, and before that I used to have a drum splitter, splitting my T2 and a China, using a TD-11, I moved to a new house and got back to one module, and now i cant use the same drum splitter, even on superior drummer 3, when i try to learn different notes it goes the same sound. both cables, for the tom, and for the china are single, I dont know anymore wtf is going on, hard to find that, specifically online

Do you think millennium drums/cymbals are basically The same as lemon?
@Sweet92879
@Sweet92879 Жыл бұрын
I had this question a few days ago, because of the price ranges and the number designations (t-x50 vs MPS-x50). But a closer look suggests they're not related. First, the cymbals are very different. Second, almost all of Leon's drum sets are built around wood or wood-style mesh head drums, while Millenium looks much closer to the old-style mesh head on a hoop. Finally, the set designs are very different - Lemon has no two-up two-down configuration, which Millenium uses for its top set. Lemon cymbal stands seem to be connected to the vertical rack posts while Millenium has them clamped onto the horizontal rack, etc. FWIW, there's a channel called Atom Drums that does a review of the top Millenium set, posted a few days ago. Spoiler alert: looks really nice and sounds okay for the money, but seems to miss notes.
