Nice starting tutorial. But what about adding some small (CD) and large (DL DVD aka ~9GB) games with the same setup (Fat PS2+HDD+WinHiip+FMCB+OPL)? Can you make video covering that question as well?

if you haven't checked out the private server scene yet for the Ps2, you really need to, So many great games have been brought back, A group of devs brought back one game online and now it's unlock soo many more 1st party Sony games what had online back in the day, it's the Main reason why I decided to get Networkd adapter and a internal HDD

Wondering if this SATA version works with a SSD (must be way more quiet) and with the IDE Network versie, is it possible to FTP the .ISO files to it instead of getting the HDD out of it every time to add new content to it. Great video's on this subject, planning to add a hdd for a long long time now, and a lot of things got much more clear now :)

Will you have to format the drive for every game you load? or just that once? bc it seems it will erase everything every upload? Or should you upload every game all at once ? just asking. Great video
@linusblom27 ай бұрын
Only format the drive once yes. You can add more games later. But I would use grimdoomers OPL instead. Then you only need to use the file browser in windows. I wouldn't even buy the cheap FMCB cards. I would make my own on an Original PS2 Memory card.

Yeah that is a complete different story. I know you can drag and drop these very easy or use a program.

It's very easy,, just download OPL Manager or OPLutil connect your USB stick or HDD with games in and click manage or download cover art, and every cover art will be saved in the folder ART

Hey your video ans explanation was really great just i have some short questions 1. Do i have to make an iso file out of the games to play them from the HDD or can I just play from the disc and just save the game on to my HDD? 2. Do i have to format my HDD as well for just saving the game there instead of on a memory card? 3. Can I come around that format part completely if i want to use the iso because i want to save my game onto a Nas where Allready other games are saved on from other consols and my PC and i want to have as much saved there as possible
@WickedGamerCollector3 жыл бұрын
Hey Hey. 1. Use PC to make ISO works faster (With PS2 takes forever) 2. Saves will be saved on Memory Card like normal 3. For using Gaming with Network function please double check what format the harddisk needs to be. USB annd Internal HDD are different story's.
@LieYT3 жыл бұрын
@@WickedGamerCollector thx for the fast reply :) So if i got that right the only purpose of using a HDD is loading and saving the game faster? And is there any way how i can save the game on my HDD? Because that's what iam searching for a option to save my save games onto my NAS if possible Because iam planing to do the "ultimate gaming setup" possible to play every game from every Xbox ps and Nintendo console on the real one but saving everything on one place so I never have to worry about losing the date because my HDD dies or something like that

Nice video but using WinHiip nowadays isn't recommended. Better to format HDD in wLE and install games with HDLGameInstaller (PS2 side over CDVD or ethernet if exists in NA) or hdl_dump_helper_gui_2.3 if on PC. ;) Also OPL-DB is very buggy, better to use the newest official OPL v.1.0. The newest OPL loads POPStarter games over APPS page and isn't that hard as before OPL 1.0.

@elmariachi51333 жыл бұрын
No, it's way different and compatibility is terrible, at least for PAL games. You need the modded version of OPL from ps2-home and a special partition and folder structure for the PS1 emulator and the games setup following their tutorials. After setting up you will need other tools to transfer games using network, or transfer them using an USB-thumb drive (which is awfully slow), or put the HD on your PC and directly copy the games on there, without a special tool (still bothersome, because you have to disassemble the HDD option everytime).

My modded PS is no fun to me. Many incompatibilities with PAL titles in OPL (you need workarounds like the compat-modes, which will in succession disable important features, like IGR), PS1 emulation through popstarter is terrible with all many important PAL titles (JumpingFlashII, Wipeout 2097 ..) not runnin, transferring data is a pain in the ass, with the network connection being slow and extremely unreliable and USB being awfully slow or having to disassemble the PS2/HDD-combo, and the most important community is arrogant and toxic (ps2-home) :( I have an original Sony-Network/HDD-adapter with SATA mod and sadly it was an complete waste of money. The few games that are running nice and worth playing, I could have played from USB alone, with much less effort, cost and annoyance. So people: Don't fall for the HDD hype.
