I’m new to crafting. Started tinkering with sewing, embroidery, and vinyl. So far I’m in love with sewing and vinyl not so much embroidery.

Question I tried to do tea towels for xmas and after putting my htv on and pressing at 400 for 15 sec and when I went to peel off it almost looked like it was going to all come off at once. What am I doing wrong ? Does it have to be pure cold before peeling off? Tips and tricks would be great if anyone knows.

*WOW! THIS has completely CHANGED* the whole customizing game (at least for me) anyways! I wanted to sell embroidered hand/body towels (w/my business name) on them beginning next year and in doing my research, I thought *the only way I could achieve that* was to either (learn how or hire an embroiderer!) which would then add more cost! Had absolutely NO IDEA (a much faster and much more time/money saving way to do it) was via heat transfers! Mind completely blown! *2* questions: 1) What would be the best machine to get? I'm thinking along the lines of maybe a *5 or 6 in 1* heat press (in case I may add mugs later..?) vs only a basic heat press machine 2) Does your company sell customized heat transfer/vinyl transfers if you don't own a *CriCUT* to make your own? I can hardly wait to read your feed back suggestion!:-)) Thanks in advance!

What temperature and for how long should I press
@Expressionsvinyls3 жыл бұрын
For the Easyweed HTV, you will want to press it at 305 degrees for 10-15 seconds.

Are you using easy weed stretch? Thank you! Looks great!!

She is just using Easyweed, but you could use the stretch if you would like.

Do you think there needs to be any caution if these are sitting in the sun for a while? Do you think it might impact the vinyl adhesion?
@Expressionsvinyls6 жыл бұрын
We haven't had an issue with the ones we have made and used. If they are adhered correctly you should be ok. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. www.expressionsvinyl.com

I don’t believe the towel sitting in the sun is as hot as a heat press!
@nancygreer22636 жыл бұрын
@@cleme2558 I know I would think the same but I've had some other plastic items in the Sun that have gotten so super hot to touch that I would have just been concerned about it thanks for your reply much appreciated!

How do you get the press marks off the towel
@Expressionsvinyls5 жыл бұрын
Press marks may fade when the towel is washed. You can also try avoiding press marks by using a towel that has a lower pile and covering the exposed fabric with a multi use sheet or cover sheet when pressing.

Thank you for your wonderful tutorials!! Do you prewash towels and clothing before applying vinyl?
@Expressionsvinyls6 жыл бұрын
Hi Jackie, it would depend on the type of fabric that it is. If it is 100% cotton it is recommended just in case it shrinks but for this one we did not.

Can you sew the HTV ??? or will the stitches cut vinyl?
@Expressionsvinyls6 жыл бұрын
Hi Penny, the stitches will puncture the vinyl but if there are few it shouldn't be a problem. We have done several and there hasn't been an issue. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. www.expressionsvinyl.com

What Is the temperature you are using for the heat press? I am using the vinyls from expression vinyl but the recommended temperature isn’t working out too well. Thank you.
@Expressionsvinyls6 жыл бұрын
Hi, it would depend on what you were adhering to it. This one we used EasyWeed so it was just at a temperature of 305 and we pressed it between 10-15 seconds. What type of heat transfer were you working with?
@archanapatel69906 жыл бұрын
Oh ok, great to know. Thank you. I am using the regular HTV. I made a shirt for my daughter yesterday with higher temperature (330F) and long time press and it worked much better. I am finally getting the hang of it, thank you :)

can you heat press vinyl on terry cloth?
@Expressionsvinyls6 жыл бұрын
You can, as you see on this towel that we did. However, because of all the loops in the fabric it will have a very textured look to it and it may not adhere evenly. If it is something more for looks then it would be fine. It most likely will not withstand as well washing as other fabrics. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. We'd be happy to assist.

Why don't you need teflon between the heat press and your design? Thank you.
@Expressionsvinyls6 жыл бұрын
Hi Cheryl, the HTV that we carry has a clear carrier sheet. IF you have that on still it acts as the cover that you need. Once you have removed that and are ready to press an additional layer, if you have any exposed layers that do not have the carrier sheet then you will want the teflon sheet. Hopefully this helps. Please let us know if there is anything additional we can assist you with. www.expressionsvinyl.com
