I love what he is doing because it's more creative than Jaiden Animations for exemple, using animation for creative things is way more cool than using it to do useless video about "why i don't like dentist" for exemple xddd Alain Becker doing some cool stuff too, and we have sfm animator that are awesome

Perfect timing of the video with that sweet, sweet climax of My Hero Academia happening. That animation, for lack of a better phrase, was just so freaking cool! I could feel the blows as the guy’s limbs were pelted off with satisfying and crisp movements! Makes me wonder how much time was spent making that one scene, probably an obscene amount.

I felt that too. I'm sad I didn't feel the final punch though, considering there was no actual frame of impact. The first charge up was so cool, he's a god at impact frames.

Impact frames was one of the first things I remember noticing when I first got my hands on a DVD of Akira and I spent hours clicking through frame by frame those dramatic scenes of high action staring at the 28 inch CRT reverseengineering the weird effects. (The other was how they would cheat a higher drawing-rate by offsetting the layers of animation) And I've also kind of wanted to see the effect in live-action films. But not even in films based on anime do I see anyone trying out impact frames. The effect wouldn't be too hard to achieve. Just have the actor stand still, underexpose the image using ND's or lens settings or shutterspeeds. And go around the actor with a still photography flash-bulb or spotlights to get the highly directional lights in high contrast. You could even turn off the set lights, do long exposures and get swirling light-trails. Of course you could also do it with 2D animation in post too. But I guess, since it doesn't involve CGI and flashing lights in visual media is a sensitive issue not to be explored too haphazardly, it's not an approach I expect to see anytime soon. I might just have to explore it myself. :P

great idea, it often leads to interesting results, taking something which is common in one medium and bringing it into another medium. In my experience with shooting video, I can never get as much light as I want to, especially shooting with a small aperture. Flash bulb could work in small confined spaces, probably not in a big open area.. best bet is to do what you suggested and do long exposure with actor in a pose

Two words _INSTANT CLICK_ Could you do one on Scripting and Animating extreme camera moves, like Naotoshi Shida Id LOVE that
@HowardWimshurst
@HowardWimshurst 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks dude! I gotta admit, Naotoshi Shida's animation style isn't really to my taste. It's like he's discovered this trick (wild 3d camera movement and flashy light trails) and has decided to tackle literally every single animated scene, no matter what scene it is, with this trick. Like... i get it - you can rotate a scene in 3d space... So can I. But sometimes it is not appropriate to keep moving the camera everywhere. Also, it strikes me that the motion itself is so monotonous in his scenes. there's rarely any variation in speed. It keeps the same speed the whole time. And to me that just looks... Wrong! I think people who like his work are often impressed by: the 3d camera movement and how smooth it is (always animated on 1s) those are two things that I do not care about at all... And they don't impress me. That is my hot take on his style. i know he has a lot of fans so it is just my opinion. I get asked a lot to make a video covering him and I really don't want to make one because i don't want to make anything negative, my channel is all about positivity. Maybe if i research him a little more it will grow on me... And also, I have made some videos about extreme camera movement in the past kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXLKq6WwZbCLqJI kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2LPk3ybZa9mma8 kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmGtaYOsqdylpas

@@HowardWimshurst Thanks I personally dont find his style boeing Its really interesting for the fact that he usually only animates around 1 scene per episode (At least in Dragon Ball, Thats How It is) so It helps me keep hooked in the EP with the intense action, but you do you my man
@jonesakward3532
@jonesakward3532 4 жыл бұрын
@@HowardWimshurst but one thing I have always noticed is how he gets the motion right(?). Even if he animates on 1s, it always feels like the punch is really been thrown... Maybe it is because of his speeding/slowing up or down between motion. But even another thing is how he refused some frames to intensify the action(Like in Kamehameha, dragon Ball heroes)

@HowardWimshurst
@HowardWimshurst 4 жыл бұрын
@@jonesakward3532 maybe you can do a video on it? I'm just not interested in the Toei animation style. I love the designs of DBZ and i am nostalgic about it but that's about as far as it goes for me. Too much camera shake, no battle tactics, no dexterity, no contrast, no restraint, no subtlety. The character moments in the series are beautiful, but no one wants to talk about them. Just all power and shaky flashy lights. I'm a little tired of it. I realize that i am treading a fine line between my animations and theirs, and this video I have made on impact frames hasn't helped that. I guess that's what happens when you stop being your authentic self and start trying to please the crowd. Well I'm going to start moving my content away from Shonen style so it doesn't get confused.

Love your channel and you've inspired me into becoming an animator and im only 14 so there's a lot of time for me to improve! Can't thank you enough for letting me find my new favorite hobby, i've been learning by watching and observing human movements and anatomy for about 6 months now, and you're channel made me improve a lot. thank you very much! Nice video, that is a good start. A V-cam is a little box that pretends to be the camera which you can drag about and tween. A v cam works through flash actionscript, which makes it quite outdated by today's software. Other software has a VCam equivalent built in. I don't use Vcams anymore and I don't really recommend them. i have made a video which explains a variety of camera movements: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXLKq6WwZbCLqJI Also this one might help kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmGtaYOsqdylpas

I agree with you necrit, they should have killed Rakan, in the sg and league it would be so neat to see Xayah become back to be the assassin she was, turning her in a way better antagonist that she already is, Vastaya belives that magic is supposed to be wild and uncontrollable but in the other side of the sea we have ryze, demacia and maybe some piltovers, fighting to control and avoid the cataclysm from happening again. Then some time after, just like Gangplank, ressurrect him, with reworked skills. Xayah should have a different kit too, in they current state Xayah have a more dependent kit than Rakan as he becomes really op in the mid-late game with cd, allow him to have better combos with other champs like kai'sa. It would give riot more freedom to create skins too, as they don't need to remove a champion from a skin line to put the other part of the duo. In short, the event would be 1000x better and may the future it will happen? only time to tell
